I think there is climate change. I think humanity is leaving an effect on the world. I don't know if it's as dramatic as people like Al Gore would have us believe. There is so much debate either way.

He won this prize as Poster Boy for his cause. Did he simply adopt a cause to espouse, or is he sincere? I don't know.

The Peace Prize seems like an odd one to give out for this - they couldn't give him a Pulitzer...?

Isn't that sort of an argument from intimidation itself? Simply using the word "impotent" would intimidate anybody who would dare to disagree, calling into question their virility, intellectual and physical.
I prefer quotes that sound less wordy. She could have worded that more simply, but I suppose it wouldn't have sounded as edumacated.

In the "library" of Casa Loma in Toronto, the "books" are merely plastered in and painted. Would probably be more practical - requires less dusting than a row of unused books.

I, too, thought it was pretty insensitive of the teacher to read any note at the front of the class, instead of reading through at her desk. What if it said, "Teacher has cooties"? Would she have read it then?

We are only reading one side of the story. It is possible that he was rude to the clerk, and the clerk way over-reacted.

Deaf people are human beings, too. How do you know he's not just taking advantage of his impairment now, for sympathy?

If he could hear, and the clerk attacked him because he mumbled, would this be such big news?

There was the time when the woman poured expesnive perfume on Jesus' feet, and when his disciples complained, saying, "She should have sold it and given the money to the poor", Jesus replied, "We'll always have poor people. You don't get to see me very often."

The whole "patch of ice" bit is fearmongering. Homeless people are often homeless because of poor decisions made in life, not random events. The doctor chose to start drinking after his accident, in the example quoted above.

I do agree that the lack of a network or support would also be a big factor.
