Fake trees, even the impregnated ones are not always more fireproof than real trees. The fake ones sometimes leak plastics during heating and give off chemical fumes that are so poisonous that one gets permanent healthdamage afterward.

The problem with fire in any house- with our without trees- is just that they make big fires real fast. Candles under curtains, shortcircuits in computers, tv-sets or in wires that are caught between wheels of rolling furniture- all in combination with cheap non-wool fabrics are main culprits of housefires and deaths all over the world.

Woot misses the mark completely on at least 2 inventions: The Jetpack and the bus that lets passengers enter straight into the bus instead of letting them walk over the tarmac.

The jetpack is still being developed, but it has other disadvantages than named here by Woot.

And that bus- Well, not all airports are situated in moderate climatezones. And this is just a drawing so this gnawing about windowless buses is just a case of like "duhhhhhh...."

and that icescooter with open prop upfront- In the 1920's and 1930's there were several machines that worked with a same kind pusherprop. So these machines weren't all that outlandish at the time.

Woot is a bit shortsighted and void of insight itself if you ask me.

If they really were skeptics as they claim, they would see this picture and just push on the "delete"-button while mumbling something along the line of "...stupid poacher...".

However you might thing about WHAT this guy is doing, this still is a story about disabled fighting for the possibility toe keep as independent as possible in any way thinkable. And that is the road to general acceptance of disable people in our otherwise able society.

And okay so this guy "can shoot". ...Have you read how much help he still needs for each shot...? He doesn't hold a gun, he doesnt operate the gun himself- the only thing he does is aiming and in some way pulling the trigger. The holding of the gun, the loading, the releasing of the safety and then all the maintenance and so on is all done by an assistant. And aside from that- try to go out in the field silently and stealthy on a hunting trip with that whole contraption and assistance... So this regained ability hardly will make a fierce hunter or a mean killer of him. In that light- I say let him have his fun.

Here in Europe they are completely nuts- There is a Belgian Native Americans Reënactment group - Winyan Tapeka. And then there are a whole bunch of groups that love to play out the Good Old American West, with trappers, homesteaders, cowbows, the Lot. And this goes on from Stone Age upto Star-Trek/Star-Wars.

But in the US they are just as nuts- Mediaeval groups in Mid-US...? Sure... :lol:

MadMolecule There are plenty reënactment groups that focus on the Korean War and on the Vietnam War all over Europe and the US. Last time I visited a Gathering of these groups in Europe, there were also some folks that were trying to start up a "Kosovo-War" group as a split-off from a group that reënacted the Spanish Civil War.... I think those Kosovo-reënactors are a Sick Bunch, but that is only my personal opinion...

Yeah well he loves it, in fact he almost never leaves his room anymore. But we're a little confused that since some time now he has so much nightmares about almost being eaten by creepy monsters...

Sure back in the days there was racism galore. In fact about the whole white population of this world was nearly blatant racist- you could say that that was part of white culture back then- in Germany particularly, but also in all the surrounding countries and in the US.

...But that doesn't have to mean that Reënactmentgroup Aachen Stadt I also is racist.

My little difficulty with these reënactment groups that focus on rather modern history is that I wonder ....Why reënact that...? It lies so close to nowadays-reality that there seems to be hardly a point to play how it was done back then- Play war with weaponry and equipment that lies close to what is used nowadays- play a dresstation from back then that is something like a MASH-unit one war later that looks like what is done nowadays... Okay that last thing is not entirely true, but anyhow--- Why don't these recent-history reënactors volunteer for the Real Thing? They could do Golden jobs where it is needed in Afghanistan, Africa or elsewhere...? Why not let them do medical assistance where it is actually needed instead of only playing...?
