Hah. Nice, keith. Anyway I have this particular book and it was published before he died...so it makes some sense...but still!

Now if only Kim Jong-Il would join him in whatever crazy dimension insane despots go to when they die.

Very true, my good friend is a "food" artist for a regional cafe...they usually TRY to start with food, but if they can't get it just perfect in time for the photo shoot for a new menu, they almost always go to completely artificial means to make it look great. It's pretty amazing work she does, though; even I have trouble telling which is real and which isn't.

Of course, a national chain would likely just do one or the other, because it does take a good amount of money to try both.

As a side note, while I don't eat at places like McDonalds or Burger King, I would far rather have a 6-inch turkey sandwich from Subway on those days that I have very little time to prepare food than just eating snack food at my house.

The roast beef cheddars around here are made much better...at least they're not soggy-looking. The subway sandwich looked basically the same except that the bread was covering some of the lower ingredients (but you could still tell they were there)...also the Nachos Bell Grande doesn't have green onions on it because of the whole e coli thing a while back...they need to bring them back. =\

It's called sumatriptan. However, the condition that it caused to this guy, sulfhemoglobin, is so incredibly rare that they don't even know exactly how it's caused or what causes it or why it happens to certain people, so it wouldn't turn the vast majority of peoples' blood green.

Working dogs were bred to work. Having a sled dog mushing or a border collie herding is just something they do naturally now...speaking from experience, they're FAR happier doing what they were bred to do than sitting around as pampered little pooches that don't get a chance to do what they do best. Every dog I've worked with, whether we had it doing what it was bred to do or not (i.e. teaching goldens how to herd) was healthier and happier than when they worked than when they didn't.

Perhaps if these were, say, wolves before we bred dogs specifically for what they do, it would be exploitation, but as it is, these dogs are probably far happier than sitting around in their happy little suburbanite homes.

Tree frogs are not endangered in the least, and neither are the rats he was eating.

I do wonder though about the sanity and sanitation issues regarding eating live frogs...

It's "interesting" to say the least.

probably got them (the cats and other domestic animals) from the same places medical companies get them to sell to high schools and colleges for dissection...mostly humane societies that run out of room, and like arielle said, some exterminators that take care of feral cat/rat/wild animal problems in the country.
