@Frau, LOL.

@pianoarthur, well then you're doing it wrong. =) Sponges get funky b/c you don't rinse them out sufficiently before putting them in the drainer to fully dry.

People (don't know if that's you or not) who leave sponges in the sink all the time and soggy all the time are begging for bacteria to grow unchecked. Ick.

I microwave mine 3 min on high, after rinsing it and leaving it mostly moist. Adding bleach is gilding the lily. I understand running them through the dishwasher works really well too.

A CAVEAT COURTESY OF MY FRIEND:

Do not do this with makeup sponges. Even wet, they apparently become too hot, and will fill up your entire house with burnt rubber smoke. For hours. I still tease her about it to this day.

That poor creature is tired and being harassed to perform by the selfish and immature human holding him/her. Disgusting. Were I certain the poor beast were being well-cared for and allowed to live naturally, I'd be more amused.

I was taught to put two spaces after a period ending a sentence, to differentiate from one space after abbreviations and titles, and two spaces after a colon. Lately, word processing programs, i.e. Word, has insisted that two spaces after a period ending a sentence is nonsense and the program will automatically remove the 2nd space, regardless. It is true for many comment features on the internet. So a commenter may type two spaces but the comment feature will toss away the 2nd and it will make the commenter seem clueless. I believe we should be allowed to type two spaces and have them be honored.
A sentence ends with a period and two spaces. The two spaces make it clear that a sentence has ended. Dr. Jones was typing a long sentence. Mr. Smith was reading it. The list of doctors attending the convention are: Dr. White, Dr. Green, Dr. Brown and Dr. Jones. They will be speakers as well.

See? (If, that is, the comment feature here does not zap the second space in my example graf above.)

I always root for the bull. Matadors, killers, are after all uncaring of life, whether it be the toro or otherwise. Their "gay" outfits notwithstanding. Bullfighting is a terrible act of torture long past its time to be retired. Long past...

I'm so glad I didn't listen to the versions with music. It was gut wrenching enough as a silent movie. But ultimately, thankfully, mom and kids are fine. They are enormously sweet creatures.

Miss Celania, I usually find your posts to be tempered, if usually agnostic. This time, not so much. Gee Queue's comments are astute, mature and decent-hearted.

When a friend tells you he was bitten by a koala as a child, so everytime he sees koalas now, he gets nervous and fearful, do you scold him for assuming all koalas would bite him? Maybe you show him some compassion and ask him to share more?

Juan Williams wasn't being a jerk, he was being human. He was punished for being honest about his fears. Way to teach the kids what we really think of honesty.

Any decent and sensitive Muslim will understand Juan's feelings and will not hold them against him or America.

NPR long ago became a misnomer.

c0ldfish, if more kind commenters would face down the cruel commenters, then they would be driven down to a minimum. We shouldn't just shrug our shoulders and go 'oh well' because that's caving in.

We need to make it so the nasty and cruel are the ones who have to "deal".

Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. Cruelty is evil.

People with Downs are amazingly sweet and physically strong beyond our quotidian comprehension. This made me cry with joy. Every single football player, on both teams, wanted him to score. It was one of the best expressions of the best of us as humans I've seen in a while.

Oy vey.

Yeah, these are the people we put in charge of teaching our children some wisdom via academics.

This is really a failure of zero tolerance policies as danced interpretively by klutzes.

Bethie, agreed. The fawn saw the dog and did what she was supposed to do while mom goes and slays the dragon. Which she pert near did. The fawn wasn't dying, just doing her job.

Ambo, I agree that when people encounter animals and things go to hell it is our fault. I do not agree that a human's life is worth more than a non-human's.

We can try to justify our use and abuse of animals all we like, because WE think WE are the dreamiest evER, but, we're just narcissistic that way.

I do think the dog's human should have armed herself with something big and scary and tried to buffalo the doe off of the dog. Maybe she did and it was removed from the posted part of the vid, but I don't know.

But I do agree that the women with the cam would have been of little help at all. So, for the sake of science, at least we have something to study.

Hey, at least all critters got away with their lives, with the poor dog getting the worst of it but reportedly is on the mend, so all's well that ends well.

May I suggest that persons too lazy to leash their dogs invest in a sharp studded collar and/or harness-wear? In this case, it would have made it harder for the deer to just keep whapping so long.
Just sayin'.

First, it was neat in a wildlife vs domesticatedlife clash of nature. And it was caught on video.

I feel bad for the dog because he got quite a trouncing. Wow. The poor thing couldn't even get up to run away. Momma deer was making ultra-sure he would not even look at her doe. Never get between a momma wildlife and her child.

Kitty cat very nearly got the same treatment. She pushed her luck. She made a swipe at the momma's nose as if to say back off sister, I'm the hunter here wait-wai-waaaaaahhhhhh hellllllpp!

The hard core carnivores are being butt-heads when they go on and on about loving them their meaty-meat-meatness. Whatever.

I'm just glad all made it out alive with just a few bruises and scrapes.
