I am friends with and have worked with both Daniel and Panther from this movie. They are incredibly warm people to know and are doing well. I will give you a short update. They are now well acquainted with American norms....many of them have three jobs. They work extremely hard and see their families rarely. One Sudanese I worked with went from knowing little language and little about interpersonal relations (especially with women) to being very well spoken and the supervisor of our department. They are inspiring to say the least, but at times they seem pretty forlorn about being so far from home. One Sudanese friend has been waiting years to bring his wife and daughter over to live with him even though he is an American citizen now. Every week he gives me an update and shows me video of his 3-yr old waving to him on his iphone. Since the movie, Daniel has been reunited with his family in Sudan and he along with many others are looking forward to the birth of Southern Sudan this year.
