Kristen Schaal And Jason Ritter Reunite For An Adorable Gravity Falls Infomercial

The end of the series Gravity Falls left many of us with a mysterious pyramid-shaped hole in our heads and a Dipper or Mabel-shaped hole in our hearts, and some of us even miss Grunkle Stan.

*sigh* Well, the show won't be coming back in the foreseeable future, but it's good to know the cast of the show is as passionate about Gravity Falls as we are.

Here's an adorable infomercial starring Kristen Schaal and Jason Ritter, advertising the new book Gravity Falls Journal 3, that proves they're as passionate about the series as we are!

I don't know if that made the loss of Gravity Falls any better for me, but suddenly I feel the urge to buy a book...on making sweaters for books!

Jenkins’ Cat Fort

Jack Shepherd wanted to make a nice play fort for his cat, Jenkins. He ended up building “The World’s Most Glorious Cat Fort” complete with two stories, towers, windows, ramps, beds, tunnels, scratching posts, a bridge, and a lighted entry. It’s made of cardboard held together by duct tape, but Jenkins loves cardboard, so it’s all good. You can see a pictorial on how the fort was built, plus more pictures of Jenkins enjoying his new cat palace, at Buzzfeed.

When a Horse Photobombs You

Redditor GILDID offers this photo of a massive and, er, majestic horse. Really, he is usually an impressively dignified specimen. But at the moment, he's just mugging for the camera.

Clip-on Cribs Help Moms Bond with Their Babies

(Photo: Belly Belly)

Mothers at the Gelderse Vallei Hospital in the Netherlands can get a new type of bed for their newborn babies while recovering from childbirth. These cribs clip onto maternity beds easily to provide the mothers with easy access to their babies. They're especially helpful for breastfeeding mothers who want to have their infants close by, as well as cesarean section patients who may be immobilized as a result of surgical birth.

Mechanic Pays Struggling Single Dad’s $1500 Minivan Repair Bill

YouTube Link

When single father Cory Grimes took his minivan in for repairs shortly before Christmas after trying in vain to fix the vehicle himself, it was with the knowledge that his last dollar would be spent on the bill.

Grimes, a Colorado part-time dishwasher struggling to care for his autistic son, was accustomed to barely making ends meet each month.

Yet Grimes was stunned when he learned that the mechanic in Strasburg, Colorado who fixed his minivan had learned of his circumstances and waived his $1,500 repair fee.

As can be seen in this video footage, a tearful Grimes, who left the shop with the repair money in hand, expressed his joy in being able to use some of the money to treat his son to a nice Christmas.

10,000 Sparklers

Are you planning to set off fireworks to usher in the New Year? I bet you don’t have as many sparklers as the guys from the Slivki Show! The entire narration is in Russian, but you don’t really need it, because the images tell the story well. And a cat helps to keep your interest.

The description translates to “Do not repeat” I believe that’s the Russian way to say “Don’t try this at home!” If you do, do not forget to take a fire extinguisher. -via reddit

The Cat’s Second Home

Redditor goldenstate30 said his girlfriend’s cat Nala came home with a note attached to her. The cat was called both a “grief whisperer” and a “baloney whore.” Then people started telling stories about their cats who befriended other households, with both good and bad results.

Regardless of what the experts say, the faces of these happy residents are proof enough that this visit is a good idea. Via Laughing Squid

Little Girl Uses Dog's Tail as a Paintbrush

(Video Link)

Scarlett needed a paintbrush. Miko's tail was handy, so she went right to work. Lance Ellis, their father, filmed them getting creative. Miko is incredibly patient with this unorthodox use for his signaling device.

Question: which breed of dog offers the best tail paintbrush?

Who's the Nicest Person You've Ever Met?

(Photo: Jennifer)

Redditor Briawrz asks, "Who's the nicest person you've encountered through life and why?" The discussion thread filled with heart-warming stories of ordinary people--often complete strangers--acting with great kindness and generosity.

For example, mandrew31 shares how a truck driver whose name he didn't even know helped him escape homelessness:

A truck driver. I was sitting in my vehicle in a Wal Mart parking lot. I had been living in my vehicle, sleeping in the back. He had parked his rig for the night right next to me and we had a small conversation about trucker life and the places he'd been. The next morning I woke up to him knocking on my window and asking me to come out. He asked what led me to being homeless, I told him I was just divorced, working two full time jobs but couldn't afford the up front costs of an apartment without saving for a couple months because of alimony. He hands me $600 and says "here's first month's rent, you need it more than I do". A week later I was in my own studio apartment. I never caught his name, or where he was from, and I wish I had. I would love nothing more than to pay him back now that I'm able to.

Mark Hamill Cancels Film Promotional Appearance to Visit Children's Hospital

In the photo above, Hamill gets a "check-up" from 3-year-old Finlay Laurence, who is in the hostpital awaiting a kidney transplant.

Mark Hamill recently showed that he has his priorities straight when he decided that he knew of a more important personal appearance he could make than one on UK talk show Graham Norton to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Instead of promoting a film in need of no promotion, Hamill opted to visit London’s Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. (The actor also made a similar appearance in the United States at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles).

Hamill told the Evening Standard regarding his last minute schedule change,

“Rather than going on TV chat shows, I would rather give back somehow by going to hospitals. I want to do more of that. It feels wonderful. It can be harrowing emotionally because your heart goes out to these children but it’s also very uplifting. You walk away thinking that being an actor is so trivial compared to helping needy children.”

Sith Lord Orientation Week

As Darth Vader gets to know his potential proteges, they brag about the evil in their hearts. But one is so evil that the others turn on him. Can you blame them? I have yet to see The Force Awakens, due to work pressures, Christmas events, and preparations for the family celebration. That means I have to be careful about which articles I read on the internet, and that’s my job! This frightening comic is from Is It Canon? which bills itself as “comics that ruin everything.” Well, this one stopped before it ruined The Force Awakens. -via Geeks Are Sexy

Science Explains Why Cats Are Always Knocking Over Our Stuff

Cats are nimble and said to always land on their feet, with extremely quick reflexes and the ability to squeeze into any space where they can fit their whiskers.

They're obviously not clumsy animals, so why are they always knocking stuff off our tables? Are they actually just being jerks, mocking their humans by breaking our stuff?

(YouTube Link)

Scientifically speaking the answer is no, and according to research done by Katherine Houpt, a professor of veterinary behavior at Cornell University, cats knock over our stuff to get our attention.

They also like to swat stuff off tables because of their predatory instinct to strike with their paws, so the swatting could actually be seen as a kind of training exercise for hunting. And Pretty soon they'll be hunting for a new place to live if they keep knocking stuff over!
