The Amazing Flower Parade Floats of the Corso Zundert

Every year, the Dutch town of Zundert holds a grand spectacle known as the Corso Zundert. It's a parade of the most astonishingly well-crafted parade floats. You can never be sure what will come down the street, but you can be certain that it will be covered with dahlia flowers in a vast variety of colors.

Zundert is the town where Vincent Van Gogh was born and raised. Van Gogh is now famous for his depictions of, among other subjects, flowers. So it is fitting that this small town throws a glorious annual festival of flowers.

Weird Things All Couples Fight About

(DailyMotion link)

Let’s be honest -these things are so common, they aren’t really weird at all. But they don’t matter nearly as much as we make them out to.

I solved the problem about what to eat by getting groceries and letting everyone deal with their own hunger. If I found the toilet paper installed the wrong way, that would be a treat, because it meant someone did it! The same principle applies to loading the dishwasher. I don’t ask my husband to fold clothes, and he doesn’t ask me to vacuum the carpets. Squeezing toothpaste from the bottom only mattered back when it came in a metal tube. And the internet can solve any movie casting question in seconds. -via Buzzfeed

Legally Required Menu

The liquor laws in Albany, Indiana, state that an establishment that sells liquor by the drink must also serve food. The “minimum food service” is described as “hot soups, hot sandwiches, coffee, milk, and soft drinks.” Now, any bar should have coffee, milk, and soft drinks because they are mixers. But the Bank Street Brewhouse doesn’t really want to be a restaurant, and doesn’t really want to serve food. But in keeping with the letter of the law, they now offer this menu.

If it's hard to read, you can see a slightly larger version at imgur. Of course, this will backfire on them, as soon as someone has a few too many drinks and decides that they really, really want a plain microwave hotdog and a can of random soup.

Why wouldn’t a bar want to serve hot food? For one thing, it takes up room and staff time. Another plausible explanation comes from redditor j0llyllama, who points out that food delivery services are on the opposite page of the menu. Often bars have deals with nearby restaurants to provide food to their patrons without making them leave the bar. -via Uproxx

Three Dimensional Drawings

Artwork: Julia Barinova

These exceptional examples of three dimensional drawing are done in pencil. Such artwork requires a mastery of visualizing where light would hit the drawn objects, as those parts should be shaded lightly or not at all. The places that would not be lit would be more heavily shaded. Additionally, the artist will sometimes insert actual objects into their drawing, such as a pencil or even their hand. Actual three dimensional objects interacting with the drawing enhances its three dimensionality.

If Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda did Shakespeare

(Video Link)

Professionally, Scott K. Ratner is known as a writer, actor, and stage magician. He's also, it would appear, a master impersonator. Here he is imitating two classic Hollywood giants, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda, performing the "to be or not to be" soliloquy from William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Ratner's performance is particularly effective because he's not just reading the words in the voice of Stewart and Fonda, but also acting as they typically did--even mimicking their postures.

A Glass of Lemonade with Dr. Brian Druker & Gert Boyle

(YouTube link)

Dr. Brian Druker is the director of the Knight Cancer Institute. Gert Boyle is a 90-year-old businesswoman who donated $100 million anonymously to the Oregon Health & Science University to fight cancer. Druker called to warn Boyle that the Williamette Week newspaper was about to blow her anonymous cover. Boyle took it in stride, and she and Druker decided to make a video just ahead of the news story.

If OHSU raises $500 million, that amount will be matched by Nike Chairman Phil Knight and his wife Penny, for a total of a billion dollars.

Boyle looks mighty good for 90. A good heart probably helps. -via Fark

Dog Talks Back in Protest Against Leaving the Park

YouTube Link

This video was captured by a visitor to a dog park who spotted this husky vocalizing displeasure when she didn't want to leave her friends and favorite spot. According to the person who made the video, the owner said that the husky visits the dog park daily, and reacts that way every time. Via Tastefully Offensive

Drums West- A Rediscovered Paper Cutout Animated Short By Jim Henson

Jim Henson experimented with many different modes of artistic expression during his far too brief life, and even though he’s best known for his amazing puppetry he was also quite the accomplished 2D animator.

Henson’s animated shorts were often created in order to explore new techniques, mediums or, in the case of this rediscovered paper cutout short from 1961, a way to bring the rhythms of jazz to life.

(YouTube Link)

Jim and frequent collaborator Jerry Juhl used hundreds of pieces of construction paper to bring Chico Hamilton's snazzy solo Drums West to life, creating a kaleidoscopic visualization of jazz rhythm that'll put you in a trance.

This colorful short was rediscovered in 2013 by The Jim Henson Company, who added behind-the-scenes footage to show all the hard work that went into this deceptively simple paper cutout short before they re-shared it with the world.

Pug in a Ball Pit

YouTube Link

Gordon the pug's people decided to fill his playpen with balls and a few of his favorite toys to see how he would react. This video shows their curiosity being satisfied. If they wanted to wear him out in order to get a more docile dog for a while, it looks like they got what they wanted. Via Tastefully Offensive.

Walter the Dog is in a Hurry to Get to the Beach

YouTube Link

Walter the Labrador Retriever lives in Sicily, Italy. He gets in a lot of beach time, and has developed an enormous love of ocean swimming. The path to the beach is rambling, but that doesn't slow Walter down. His owner fitted him with a GoPro to catch a beach run from Walter's perspective. His fans were waiting for him on the beach and filmed him in his last stretch before jumping into the sea, as seen in the video below. Gotta admire Walter's lust for life! Via Tastefully Offensive.

2 Dogs Use Teamwork to Retrieve Their Favorite Toy from a Pool

(Video Link)

Someone has thrown the tire into the pool! This is a terrible calamity that the two pups must resolve. It's quite heavy and it's at the bottom of the center of the pool. So how can they get it out?

One dog jumps in. In the video, you can almost see his mind turning, searching for a solution as he experiments with different techniques.

The pair are ultimately successful. But only because, at the end, they work together.

P.S. What breed are these dogs? The video says bulldogs but their body shape seems more like that of boxers.

Stereotypical People at Restaurants

YouTube Link

This video finds the guys at Dude Perfect parodying types of personalities, both patron and server, that are commonly seen at restaurants. I think a lot of these ring true. As someone who usually sticks to water over any other liquid refreshment at restaurants, my favorite has to be the "ambitious refiller." What do you think? Are they missing anyone? Via 22 Words.

Space Shuttle Endeavor and International Space Station, Photographed Together

Image Via

Though I am sure none of us travel to space enough to know the above photo occurance is rare, but it is rare. While many of us weened of film look at that and immediately think of the movie Gravity, stop and ponder for a second how this is real. That is a space shuttle Endeavor docked to the International Space Station, as they both float around in outer space.

It is the kind of thing that just kind of steals your breath for a moment when you imagine the reality of it. How quiet it must be up there. How scary it must be while docking. To the astronauts on the Endeavor, it is just another day. To the rest of us, it is nothing short of jaw dropping.

For those curious, a departing supply ship took the photo. The weirdest part? I can see my house from here.

The Reality Behind The Beats By Dre Headphones

I don't know if you know, but those super expensive Beats by Dre headphones that you see everyone wearing? Well, um, they are not so great. You know what they are great at? Trying to point out to people you have no problem shelling out two hundred dollars or more for headphones that offer the same quality as ten dollar headphones, just so you can get the social status that goes along with donning a pair of them. Well, never before have I heard the whole "Beats by Dre" thing explained as perfectly as it is explained here. Please send this video to your friends who wear these things everywhere they go like some sort of crown. It will bring them back to reality a bit.

(YouTube Link)

The creator of this piece, Marques Brownlee has a bunch of stuff on his YouTube page worth checking out. But mainly, revel in the fact that this dude had the stones to come out and say what so many people have been thinking about these Beat by Dre headphones for years now. I see people wearing them to the grocery store and want to slap them off their heads. This proves the majority would clap if I did (but I wont).
