Eh, i suppose they're stereotyped on purpose and the Irish accents could have been worse (Heroes season 2 anyone?) but they were pretty bad! Congrats for actually attempting a Dublin scanger accent though, it's a toughie!
I think the major problem you may need to look at is the National dept, as far as I am aware from my admitted limited knowledge the American government is already far far in dept, mostly to China. Now while this is a seperate issue to Wallstreet, this is perhaps not the best time for the already indepted government to be giving cash bailouts. The reason they have to is to try and stabalise the economy and the dollar which is taking a bit hit. That's the real problem. It goes far beyond Wall Street, far beyond New York and far beyond America. Start tighting your belts ladies and gentlemen, the crunch is coming
I'm Irish and everyone I've talked to was horrified by this article. It's not the first inflammatory article he's written (we all remember the "children out of wedlock are bastards" one from a few years back...) so I hope no one takes this as an indication of the viewpoint of the Irish people. The Immigrant Council of Ireland declared that the article was incitement to hatred and I certainly agree: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2008/0715/breaking64.htm
Ireland has a very good record on its international aid figures, and Irish people personally donate one of the highest amounts per capita in the EU. I hope that this will give a more balanced view of Ireland at least. There are plently of people who will agree to this (to my shame) especially in times of recession and inflation.
We in Ireland should remember when one million people died in the potato famine (a further million emmigrated)- must have done wonders for our surplus population....
This is a racist article, one which places a value on human life. It is an antiquated notion, a relic from Victorian times when simply being poor made you worthless.
Woops - forgot important part, we used to cover the top of the cool box with a damp tea towel/ dishcloth to finish the trick. Ok, where can I collect my $100,000?
Lol! I remember doing that when we went camping as a kid - we would get an ordinary cool box and put all our milk, eggs and stuff in it & then surround it in layers of water soaked newspapers and that was that!! It was perfect...though this was in Ireland where there doesn't tend to be too much trouble keeping things cool in summer^_^
Nah, Newgrange is as follows: the principal structure including the corbelled (amazing) roof and the passage itself is EXACTLY as it was 8000 years ago. It needed no reconstruction as it remained intact for all that time due to the incredible engineering of the original structure. ONce inside the original soil has turned to sand which hasn't seen rainfall in since the roof was first constructed. The OUTSIDE of the structure is reconstructed but if you travel to Knowth and Dowth you can see what it looked like before. The visitors' entrance is not fake, it merely allows elderly or infirm people to enter the tomb, the alternative is to climb over the entrance stone which blocks the door. Baring in mind that the stone is well over a meter high you can see the necessity of that. And would you really begrudge the visitors a path? And you CAN visit the tomb itself, you just have to get a BUS from the visitors centre!:D I'm really glad it was included because it's one of the most amaing places I've ever seen & I've travelled a bit - but then I'm from Meath nearby so I might be biased. Only problem is that there's no evidence that it is a tomb. It's called a "passage grave" because in Neolithic Ireland stone graves were popular. They think it might have been a temple of some sort! Anyway, cool list!:D
