Scott-O's Comments

“When I set foot at the Dulles airport in DC, the immigration/customs guy asked me how I was doing... She wasn’t the only one who was confused by the phrase, as well as 'thank you', 'you’re welcome', and the constant smiles of Americans."

I live 6 miles from Dulles (IAD) and have flown in and out of there for over 18 years. I have never seen a smiling customs official there. And I am not being cavalier, I truly have NEVER seen a smiling customs agent. (Although I have seen the drug dogs wag their tails from time to time.) The smiles I DO see, however, are the people reuniting after a long absence. Even with the hassles of faux-security theatrics we are forced to endure today, seeing these smiles keeps the travelling enjoyable.

Charity? they should just come to the US and rename themselves "GE2." Then they can pay zero taxes and NOT have to make a charitable donation to maintain the facade.

Yet another example of why this country is careening down the toilet. I'm waiting for a republican to start reading Dr. Seuss to us. I can't help but wonder how many of these elected idiots got their education on the legal system from School House Rock's "I'm Just a Bill."
And yet we CONTINUE to send this morons to DC to represent us. It begs the question - Who is the real buffoon?

Okay, dumb questions time:

So sales are at the same level for Jan- Mar. The retail inventory is being used to close these sales and, as a result, the need for new inventory is greatly reduced. Reduction in need for new inventory means your plants slow down or stop. Say your orders drop 30% while retail clears out inventory. If you have 100% of your work force filling 70% fewer orders than before, your labor costs remain the same but your input of money is reduced 30% due to the order reduction.
I don't understand how (in FINANCIAL TERMS ONLY) it makes sense to keep your costs at 100% when your orders (input) drops 30%. Seems like you have 30% of your work force standing around doing nothing but still bringing in a full check.

What am I mmissing?
