The Great Salt Water Lake really doesn't have a ring to it the way the Great Salt Lake does. That being said most American's think Australian names sound weird too. Potato Potato

I know that often this is the history touted as the end of Butch Cassidy's life but there are quite a few competing narratives including Butches sister's account in her book Butch Cassidy: My Brother. While we do have letters from Cassidy from Argentina the weakest part of the story is the robberies in Bolivia and the death of Butch and Sundance as the two killed gringos were only anecdotally identified. I think there end will always be cloaked in mystery and controversy. So what really happened? We don't really know.

Ursula K. LeGuine, Octavia Butler, Anne McCaffery, Mary Shelley, Leigh Brackett are all female sci-fi writers whose works would definitely qualify as being Best of All Time. Some of the list feels a little stretched and having several books by one author also feels a little bit arbitrary. Not everything Heinlein wrote was gold. Barnes and Noble has a great list of essential readings in women written Sci-Fi. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/blog/sci-fi-fantasy/50-sci-fi-must-reads-by-women/

I'm not sure about the above etymology goes far enough to explain that it was used in the West to describe easterners on vacations in the West and became a part of Western American English a derogatory term. Now the bigger question was when did it transform to be less of an insult and more of a positive moniker or a gender neutral way to refer to a person? (I know quite a few Californians who will refer to anyone by the term dude or mixed group of people as dudes so it is not just a masculine term) https://www.etymonline.com/search?q=dude&source=ds_search

This is going to cause havoc for any English or French visitors who will see the Red Vikings and then try running away instead of stopping. However if all the Red light vikings are named Eric then that is an excellent pun.

Maybe I'm a little bitter about hearing that such and such babyboomer is taking college courses at an advanced age.(Okay 50 is not that old but still) Don't get me wrong he's done some awesome stuff but it seems there are a lot of young people at the start of their lives who could use opportunities for a better future when he's 10-15 years out from retirement. His education was definietly interupted and he qualifies but to what end? What about the students who are working on degrees and have something tragic happen and they are forced to withdraw rather than intentionally joining the military. Also doesn't he qualify for the GI bill too? Anyway to many questions.

I used to love the regretsy blog that highlighted the weirdly bad things on etsy. Which is a strange place to be sure. I do get frustrated to see people just selling wholesale stuff on etsy instead of real crafts and such but that's life I guess.

I don't think my American head can wrap itself around this puzzle. Sure it's going to be hard but this is from the country that gave us Suduku it seems pretty par for the course for Japanese word games.

This is frustrating and messy and what is worse is that the whole case as esentially outed McClain. Most astronauts live incredibly private lives to protect their family. Even Sally Ride's family did not reveal she was gay until after her death. While it is true that McClain's marriage could have been searched out she chose to live privately and now this lawsuit or whatever it has done has outed her and not in a positive way. Kudos for McClain being an astronaut and LGBT but boo on the way we had to find out.
