Can't vote, I'm an Aussie Canuck, just throwing my two cents in for those tabulating. I accidentally picked McCain quotes twice, it was Obama (almost) all the way! Which is exactly how I would vote if I could.

About 12 years ago my autistic son showed a talent for working on his school's Commodore 64, so his father decided to buy us a PC and pay for "Windows lessons" for me. Before that, my last encounter with computers was in high school in Data Processing class. All I remember is filling in boxes on data cards with a pencil, feeding them into a HUGE machine that literally took up a whole room, and waiting breathlessly as it spit out the results. Magic, it was. Never guessed all these years later I'd be an award-winning webmistress! An awfully old webmistress, apparently, but still.

I looked in on her once, but never took the time to explore the blog further. Damn. And that second video needs a warning for the end part, I needed a box of Kleenex! Good on ya, Ollie, one Aussie to another.

Back in the early '80s, I was involved in something similar to this. I was still living at home and going to high school. One day, I met a guy downtown and we started chatting. Soon enough, after we'd met up for coffee a few times, he took me around during the day panhandling. Told me to play dumb and let him do the talking. He spun a great tale about being robbed and needing a bus ticket to Calgary for "me and my old lady". He was a very charming man, some days we hauled in over a hundred bucks! Spent most of it at Gasworks (a seedy bar here in Toronto) and on food.

Moral of the story: Don't believe everything you hear.

Best part of the story: The man turned out to be David Milgaard on the run from the penitentiary for a murder he didn't commit. The cops shot him in the butt on Queen Street a couple of months later (not in the official records!) and took him back to jail. He was released more than 10 years later after serving more than 20 years in prison. I would love to see the looks on the faces of the people that gave us money when they realized who he was!

I believe that would be beak-synched, Ted. And, yeah, according to my search on YouTube, it's being used in a Domino's ad in Australia. If you order the BBQ Chicken and Bacon pizza online (www.dominos.com.au) you get a free ringtone (with the chickens "singing", I assume). Must be time to renew my passport. This is why I love YouTube (and Neatorama!), how else is a bored broad in Canada going to see dancing chickens?!

Gee, something just speaks to me about this video, what can it be? ;-) Note the avatar, good old Miss Piggy as Mona Lisa. Jim Henson would be so proud *sniff* Happy belated Fourth from Canada!

How can it not be murder? He shot two unarmed men in the back, that's murder in my book. He has the perfect right to protect his "castle", sure, but that doesn't include chasing unarmed burglars down the street and killing them in cold blood. His life was not threatened. I think the dispatcher had it right, is it really worth killing someone over property? Threaten me or my family, I'll grab the closest weapon (which would be a kitchen knife or something, no guns in this Canadian's home) and take you out. Steal my stereo and I'm calling the cops.

Curious as to where Canada ranked, I went looking for more info, too. All roads lead to the World Values Survey (www.worldvaluessurvey.org/) where you'll find volumes of data to salivate over, but no real "list" that I could find. The most recent ranking I could find was here (www.nationmaster.com/graph/lif_hap_net-lifestyle-happiness-net), a very comprehensive survey site.

Wonderful to finally "meet" you, Miss C! The accent rocks and my cat was asleep on the dinner table last night, so there.

I like the idea of the show (the Neatcast, of course, good name there, Marcelo) being a best of for the previous week's Neatorama postings and suggestions, or however often you want to do the shows. Maybe choose some of the links people send in and highlight them on air instead of posting them on the regular site. And more weird-ass recipes, for sure. Why on earth would people want to drink raisins?

Finally, if you ever find yourself in need of "Sesame Street" or general Muppet advice, then I'm your gal :-) Looking forward to the next show!

I checked out the site. He apparently needed 50 thousand for the surgery and recovery (he had numerous surgeries before he was 18, but the insurance companies won't fund any more as they say it's a preexisting condition). As of yesterday's tally, they've raised over 67 thousand dollars and his first appointment is later this month.

*sniff* I love it when the good guys win.

Congrats, now let's get crackin' on 23,456! I'm Rhonda, a 43 yr old Mother/Webmistress in Toronto (originally from Australia, lot of us Aussies out there, eh?) and I've been a fan for more than a year now. I don't read every day, but let the daily mailings pile up 'till I can wallow in peace (and need a break from Real Life). I'm a trivia junkie, thanks for being my dealer, Alex!
