sci-fi doesn't translate to film well. they tend to dumb it down. the only real exception was 2001, but Kubrik thought it would be better to just not explain in the film what a Type III civilization was...

but... i'm glad neil gaiman is starting to get some love... wish they would get on with a Sandman HBO or Showtime series though.
