Did an apple hit Newton on the head or not?

He was very religious man, but he never believed in holy trinity and the idea of hell and devils. He loved alchemy and everything that could sparkle ingenuity. He never had apple fallen on his head. He said that he saw apple falling from the tree in the garden when he was staring through his house window.
