Cats Who Collect Things

Some cats love bottle caps, while other concentrate on milk rings or q-tips or ink pens or rubber bands. This is redditor jasonripp’s cat Cersei, after he found out where she hid her collection of bottle caps. She looks like she’s terrified he might take them away. My cat Marshmallow collects chopsticks, but when she can’t find any more, she’ll gather hair ties. She puts the hair ties in the cat food bowls, or even the water container, which all the cats share, and it aggravates the rest of them to no end. The cat belonging to awtardiss collects hair ties.

DeedTheInky has a cat who collects paper wads.

The number of people with collector cats is large enough that a new subreddit was created last night called Catstash. There are a couple of submissions from people who thought it was about cats with mustaches, but it’s mostly cats who collect things. MsMeepz cleaned out her cat’s stash of drinking straws. The cat was not happy about it.

If you think your cat doesn’t collect anything, take a look under the refrigerator, stove, or couch. That’s where all that stuff went!

MonsieurEpinards found Daffy’s missing toys under the refrigerator.

Here’s PangeaWhiplash’s cat and her milk ring collection. There’s a whole album of it.

You are welcome to take a picture of your cat’s collection and post it at Catstash. Or here.

Our cat used to go out into the neighborhood and collect all kinds of junk. Notably cigarette packs (empty) and fast food bags (empty). He also brought back gloves and laundry (a thong, a towel, a wash cloth). He was so proud bringing these into the house.
