Joker Hand Mask

Why so shy? Don't hide behind your hand, even if it is so perfectly painted.

A friend of a redditor with an unrepeatable username painted Heath Ledger's Joker onto his hand. It's perfectly proportioned to serve as a mask. Later in the thread, he links to several other works by the same artist, most of which are painted sneakers.

Read and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturers of your clothing. They're usually correct. And even if they don't immediately apply to taking care of your clothes, the advice is still sound. Pandas are not for slapping.

22 Words rounded up 25 of the silliest washing instructions provided on clothing tags. Someone at these factories has a sense of humor.

Edit 7/8/15: More at funny clothing tags at Bored Panda.

At Captain Kirk's Funeral

"Never tell me the odds!" seems to be the apt sci-fi quote to apply in this situation as described by The Gentleman's Armchair.

If I remember correctly, that quote was spoken in one of the last seasons of Star Trek by Han Solo, while piloting Serenity and running away from the Cylons. Yes, I'm sure that's it!

Senior Quote: High School Was Easy

High school was easy. Just ask this high school senior, who said what he thought of his high school experience for posterity in his yearbook quote:

"High school was easy. It was like riding a bike. Except the bike was on fire & the ground was on fire & everything was on fire because it was hell."

Wait till real life, kids. Wait till real life.

Should've Used Ragu

Mom's dealing with morning sickness, Dad's facepalming nearby, and their daughter proudly holding a jar of Prego pasta sauce. It can only mean one thing: it's a clever "we're pregnant" announcement made just for the Interwebs (or is it an anti-advertisement warning you to stay away from a certain pasta sauce?)

The Mysterious Coffin Man of Lake Burley, Australia

Photo: Jeanne Mclauchlan

He's not the ferryman Charon and that isn't the River Styx, but you get the picture.

Paddlers on Lake Burley in Canberra, Australia, spotted a man dressed as an undertaker in a stand-up paddle board that looks like a coffin decorated with bright plastic flowers. "In the distance, as we came towards the Carillon we noticed a figure emerge from the thick fog," paddler Jeanne Mclauchlan told The Canberra Times, "It was a figure of a man dressed in a tuxedo and top hat on a stand-up-paddle coffin, complete with flowers, paddling toward us."

And where exactly is the mysterious man going?

"We asked 'coffin man', 'Where are you going?' His response was 'To Queanbeyan cemetery as I have a 3pm grave site to prepare'."

One of these leaves ain't like the others! Norway-based artist Dino Tomic of Atomic Circus drew a leaf so real that it's hard to distinguish the painting from the real stuff.

Crow Rides on the Back of an Eagle

Photographer Phoo Chan spotted this incredible scene in Seabrook, Washington. A crow landed on the back of a bald eagle in mid-flight and rode there briefly. The eagle did not seem to object and the crow flew away after a short time. You can see more photos of this encounter at the Daily Mail.

This Strawberry Looks Like a Chicken

(Photo: Grove Farm)

Reuben and April Welch of Grove Farm in Bonnyrig, Scotland grow strawberries. While harvesting their crop this summer, they spotted this unusual fruit. The strawberry looks like a plump chicken, especially after placing a bit of leaf on one side to serve as a beak. They quipped, "Going to have to eat this chicken as it hasn't laid a single bloody egg yet."

Blind Date with a Book

Photo via reddit

Don't judge a book by its cover ... judge them by these cryptic keywords, instead! A bookstore in Amsterdam wrapped a number of books in plain brown paper and taped hints like "Science-Fiction," "Ambiguous Utopia," "World Without Government," and "Brilliant Physicist" to help you guess the books inside.

"Try a blind date with a book!" The sign above the bin said, "With only the keywords as hints you can't judge these books by their cover. Purchase the book at the counter and unwrap. A great way to discover new books."

See if you can guess the titles of the books in the photo above.

World's Laziest Sign Spinner

Have you ever seen a skilled sign spinner on the side of the road performing near-acrobatic stunt with enthusiasm and zeal? Well, this guy is the opposite of that!

My wife and I ran into a sign guy sitting comfortably on a lawn chair reading a book while holding a giant sign to advertise a local business nearby. But he's probably just as effective as the guy who twirls his sign, while expending a fraction of the energy. After all, you can't beat a giant red arrow with the word "Tacos." Those things practically sell themselves!

Aurora From Space

Image: NASA

Astronaut Scott Kelly took this amazing photo of an aurora from on board the International Space Station. As you can see in this photo above, taken on June 23, 2015, the glowing aurora looks as awesome from space as it does from the ground.

#PrattKeeping with REAL Dinosaurs

Remember when all those zookeepers imitated Chris Pratt's velociraptor training pose from the movie Jurassic World? Well, museum curators want in on the fun, too!

Here's one tweeted by The Smithsonian:

#PrattKeeping is a key component of the exhibition process. Our Dinosaur Curator, Matthew Carrano, has a tough job!
