Try Guy Keith Lets Google Search Decide What To Do For A Day

I wouldn't suggest letting Siri or Cortana or any other annoying AI assistant suggest places for you to eat or drink while you're out on the town, because they're liable to suggest places to go based on sponsored content.

Instead, you should do like Try Guy Keith and go Google Search if you're looking to let an app control your life for a day...oh wait, they use sponsored content too, don't they?

Well, Keith had pretty good luck trusting Google Search to tell him what to eat, drink and do nearby (within a mile of his location, Santa Monica), and he even made a new friend from the Valley!

(YouTube Link)

Keith then headed Downtown, met a new buddy and went to brunch, a bar and a Lakers game at the Staples Center, because they were livin' that Google sponsored life.

I guess the moral of the story is if you run in to Try Guy Keith and he tries to make friends with you take him up on his offer, because you're in for a delicious adventure!

Groom and His Groomsmen Dress Up As McDonald's Food

In Singapore it is traditional for grooms to show up at their bride-to-be's house before a wedding and participate in silly tasks at the request of the bridesmaids. Chen Guanyou must not have thought that didn't sound quite exciting enough on its own, so he decided to show up with his groomsmen all dressed in McDonald's costumes. Maybe it was a last hurrah for his fast food fandom because his bride, Joanna Tan, actually hates fast food -at least she was a good sport about the whole thing.

The Brooklyn Bar That Offers Free Drinks to Men Willing to Cut Off Their Man Buns

Pretty much everyone knows that man buns are awful, but those that have not yet gotten the message can be encouraged to cut off their buns in exchange for free alcohol. Of course, you have to be in Brooklyn, but if you are (and you happen to have the much-hated hairstyle), The Boobie Trap is happy to give you a full bottle of alcohol if you'll ditch the bun in the bar.

Finally a chance to get rid of an incredibly regretable fashion decision and forget about it all at the same time!

The Deliciously Entertaining History Of Pizza In New York City

New York City is the birthplace of pizza in America, and pizza is so intrinsically tied to the city that many historical tours will include stops at pizzerias like Lombardi's, America's first pizzeria, which opened in 1905.

And that's what's kind of amazing about New York City pizza- places are serving up tasty slices all over the city, and some of these places have been in operation for a hundred years.

(YouTube Link)

Host Frank Pinello investigates the pizzas of Brooklyn in the premiere of the Munchies series "The Pizza Show":

New York is the birthplace of many things, but for today’s purposes, we’re sticking to pizza. Frank starts with a quick history lesson from Scott Wiener, the owner of Scott’s Pizza Tours. Then, we hit the streets to see and taste the history for ourselves. The best thing about the city’s pizza scene is that it’s relatively young, so you can still eat slices from the ovens of the people that started it all and put New York pizza on the map.

Americans Eat Over 500 Million Jack In The Box Tacos Every Year

(Image Link)

Jack In The Box is known for serving up fun food that isn't exactly good for you, but fast food fans don't worry about the calories- they just want something affordable that tastes good.

And at Jack's the entire menu is priced to sell, but nothing is cheaper than their tacos, which are often sold at the nice price of 2 for a buck.

Maybe this nice price is why Jack In The Box sells over 554 million crispy tacos a year, or maybe it's the fact that they're so easy to tack on to any order?

Whatever the reason Jack's is currently selling "the same amount of tacos as McDonald's sold Big Macs in 2007".

And even though many people think Jack's tacos are gross, claiming they'd never eat them, they're being sold at a rate of 1000 per minute so somebody's scarfing them down!

The Most Angering Restaurant Employee Agreement Ever

Almost everyone knows that waiters and waitresses aren't the most well-paid employees around, but seeing an employment contract that charges them every time they give male customers straws, fail to say "hi" or "bye" to customers or take out their cellphone is particularly shocking. Redditor 00generic posted this absurd employment contract that her cousin was asked to sign, noting that the restaurant already fired one employee who refused to sign.

Needless to say, other Redditors were not happy about the employer's requirements and many pointed out that the company may be breaking the law.

Strange Food Products From The 90s You May Have Forgotten About

(YouTube Link)

We took all those strange food products on the store shelves for granted back in the 80s and 90s, never knowing those neon colored decades would be seen as the heyday for funny foods.

But now that Holiday Spice Pepsi, Hidden Valley Pizza Ranch dressing, Pop-Tarts Crunch cereal, Chicken Tonight and Nestle Bug Pops are no longer sold in stores people are starting to wonder if they were just a figment of their imagination.

It's arguable whether life is a little more bland without these funny food products, or if we're better off without these freaky foods dancing in our bellies.

But there's no denying the world is better off without that Chicken Tonight theme song dancing through our heads!

Cannibal-Quality Finger Food

The question is, how realistic do fake body parts have to be before you can't bring yourself to eat them? You've seen Halloween recipes made to look like disembodied fingers and other limbs, but they contain cake or candy or something. This recipe is the real deal, because the fingers are made of meat, with the exact shape of real fingers, complete with bones sticking out! Tye Lombardi cast molds of her fingers that ended up being so realistic that she recognized her own scars. She filled them with meat, stuck in pretzel "bones," and garnished them with barbecue sauce. The result is too realistic, but still delicious. Learn to make your own fingers edible at the Necro Nom-Nom-Nomicon.*

This Brewery Will Custom-Make a Beer for You Based on Your DNA

The flavors you like are partially based on how sensitive you are to certain chemicals. Now Meantime Brewing is creating custom brews for customers based on their DNA. Using a saliva sample to analyze what flavor compounds you may or may not enjoy, they will make you a beer they think you enjoy. They will even have you come in to consult on the beer so they can get your input on their flavor profiles and help name the beer and design the label. Of course, this kind of customization isn't cheap -the basic package will cost almost $31,000, but at least it leaves you with a good 2,000 pints of beer.

Ridiculously Fancy Restaurant In San Francisco Now Serving Food On iPads

There are plenty of fancy restaurants serving up expensive meals that are delicious and filling, but it seems the more pretentious restaurants have lost sight of the fact that they're supposed to serve good food, not gimmicks.

Head to Quince restaurant in San Francisco and you'll find one of the most ridiculous and pretentious concepts in fine dining ever conceived- frog legs and white truffle croquettes served on an iPad.

A Dog In Search Of Gold

A video posted by rosé (@asap.rozzy) on Dec 20, 2016 at 12:43pm PST

The croquettes plate is called A Dog In Search Of Gold, and it's served on an iPad showing a video of dogs hunting for truffles, part of a $220 fixed-price supper that otherwise sounds quite delicious.

The Michelin-starred restaurant also recently served up frog legs on an iPad showing a video of frogs leaping around a pond, just to remind diners where their meal actually came from.

James Franco And Bryan Cranston Bond Over Hot Wings

Nothing brings actors together like co-starring in the same motion picture, and it's not uncommon for movie stars to meet on the set and become fast friends after months of filming.

But I'm pretty sure James Franco and Bryan Cranston didn't actually become good buds until they appeared on First We Feast's Hot Ones and ate atomic chicken wings.

(YouTube Link)

Cranston and Franco are comedy gold in Why Him?, proving they make one hell of a double act, but after watching them tackle this hot wing challenge they could also hit the road as competitive eaters!

All the Things the Internet Did to Guy Fieri This Year

The internet loves to hate Guy Fieri. It's like his loud mouth, two-toned beard and backwards sunglasses are just begging to be mocked. In 2016, the chef was the butt of many internet jokes and we all benefited from it -like that time they envisioned him as an average American dad rather than his flamboyant American dad reality or that time he cruised along with Mad Max. We already showed him hurt himself by eating, but it's hard to get enough funny Fieri jokes and Eater rounded up the best of them from the year

There's Something So Wrong About These Wine And Cheese Shots

In the quest to find new and exciting ways to combine snacking and drinking people have come up with some clever and delicious combos, but these wine and cheese shots are just plain wrong.

They were created by Brandi Milloy of PopSugar Foods, but whether she made them as a way to get revenge on her former wine club or simply because gross foods go viral is anybody's guess.

It's also unclear whether she really thinks drinking red wine out of a shot glass made of cheddar cheese is a heavenly experience, but she's really good at acting like she enjoys it!

In case the thought of drinking red wine out of a cheddar cheese tube didn't leave you feeling completely grossed out here's the original video to finish the job.

A Shipment Of "Plastic Rice" Seized In Nigeria

The fake food hustle is still going strong in countries around the world, and the targets of the scam are usually poor people in third world countries who can't afford to do anything about being ripped off.

But these fake food scams are typically small operations selling products that aren't necessarily deadly when ingested, and many more fake food incidents are simply urban myths spread to keep people on their toes.

However, a two and a half ton shipment of "Best Tomato Rice" was intercepted in Nigeria and is currently being tested- because the rice may be nothing but grain shaped pieces of plastic:

Lagos customs chief Haruna Mamudu said the fake rice was intended to be sold in markets during the festive season.

He said the rice was very sticky after it was boiled and "only God knows what would have happened" if people ate it.

It is not clear where the seized sacks came from but rice made from plastic pellets was found in China last year.

"Whoever made this fake rice did an exceptionally good job" says the BBC's Martin Patience, "on first impression it would have fooled me. When I ran the grains through my fingers nothing felt out of the ordinary. But when I smelt a handful of the "rice" there was a faint chemical odour."

Customs officials say when they cooked up the rice it was too sticky - and it was then abundantly clear this was no ordinary batch.

NEW EDIT- The debate is over and the verdict is in- the plastic rice is normal rice contaminated with microorganisms:

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, a senior official with the NAFDAC said levels of bacteria, including Coliform, found within the rice were “above permissible limits,” and that the product was unsuitable for human consumption. On its own, this bacteria isn’t usually harmful, but its presence is an indicator of other contaminants, such as microorganisms that dwell in fecal matter, disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Speaking at the same press conference, a Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) official said he had acted on “credible intelligence” that “large consignments of plasticized rice were...to be shipped from the Far East to Africa.” He added that the NCS would intensify patrols to prevent further batches of tainted rice from entering the country’s borders.

Troublingly, intelligence reports suggest that several tons of this dangerous rice are still lying in wait in warehouses in neighboring countries.

Read That 'Fake Plastic Rice' in Nigeria was actually something much more depressing here

EDIT- This story has been confirmed to be false, thanks to A. DeBusk for sharing this information:

On 24 December 2016, Nigeria's Ministry of Health announced that tests on the "plastic rice" had revealed the rice was in fact not plastic:

In [a] statement, Yetunde Oni, acting director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), who briefed minister, was quoted to have said that preliminary findings by the agency failed to validate the claim by the NCS.

“Following the reports on the seizure of ‘alleged plastic rice’, NAFDAC team of inspectors led by the Director Ports Inspection Directorate(PID) and Director laboratory services visited the Area Comptroller’s Office, Ikeja, Lagos and drew samples from the seized consignment for laboratory analysis,” Oni said.

“The products were in 25kg pack size with no NAFDAC number, batch details and manufacturing details of address of manufacture and date markings.

“The following preliminary tests and results were found to be in conformity with the specification for rice: Floating — negative, cooking — normal, odour — normal, colour- off-white rice grains , moisture -13.0 , pre-ashing — normal.” -Via Snopes
