After you turn on Alexander Lervik's "The Poetry of Light", there'll be nothing but darkness until the lamp burns holes through the chocolate shell. Eventually, a gooey, sweet-smelling mess fills the resevoir. Don't burn your tongue while lapping it up.
Surely this is Darth Vader's favorite candy, despite the difficulty of licking them through his mask. Priscilla of Designer Lollipops makes lollipops by hand in the shape of the Death Star from Star Wars! They are made from Isomalt, sugar, and corn syrup and taste like marshmallows, and available through her Etsy shop. Link -via Laughing Squid
Please stop licking the monitor. I sympathize, but you can't taste Neatorama.* Baked Alaska is a baked ice cream dish and Alaskan chef Nicole Pearce has perfected it. She cooked and served hers in hollowed grapefruit rinds with grapefruit pieces mixed into the meringue.
My arteries are clogging just by looking at this, the Heart Attack poutine
from Quebec's Poutineville. Yan of Geeks Are Sexy explains:
... the Heart Attack is a 15-pound mess of fries, chicken, bacon, wieners,
ground beef, ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese curds,
and mozzarella, all smothered in a delicious sauce that will make your
taste buds scream for more.
... and your heart scream for mercy! Link

Actually, it's quite complex. You see, Simply Orange, which is made by
Coca-Cola, is a highly industrial product engineered according to a complex
algorithm called the "Black Book":
Revenue Analytics consultant Bob Cross, architect of Coke’s juice
model, also built the model Delta Air Lines (DAL) uses to maximize its
revenue per mile flown. Orange juice, says Cross, “is definitely
one of the most complex applications of business analytics. It requires
analyzing up to 1 quintillion decision variables to consistently deliver
the optimal blend, despite the whims of Mother Nature.”
The Black Book model includes detailed data about the myriad flavors—more
than 600 in all—that make up an orange, and consumer preferences.
Those data are matched to a profile detailing acidity, sweetness, and
other attributes of each batch of raw juice. The algorithm then tells
Coke how to blend batches to replicate a certain taste and consistency,
right down to pulp content. Another part of Black Book incorporates
external factors such as weather patterns, expected crop yields, and
cost pressures. This helps Coke plan so that supplies will be on hand
as far ahead as 15 months. “If we have a hurricane or a freeze,”
Bippert says, “we can quickly replan the business in 5 or 10 minutes
just because we’ve mathematically modeled it.”

with a tall glass of orange juice: Link
Hava (@realbridges) describes this chart as "A testament to my complicated love affair with spicy condiments." Any hot sauce lover can relate! It's much easier to read full-size at Twitpic. Link
Got to eat them all! Pancake artist Nathan Shields made 9 Pokémon pancakes. Hopefully he plans to make the full 151. Now how do I get syrup out of my Pokédex?
Chica Chocolatina made these beautiful Twinkies with red velvet chocolate cake mix and then filled them with a mixture of cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract. Yummy! You can find her recipe at the link.
A flat nachos chip doesn't hold enough toppings or dip. Sure, you can buy chips that are scoop-shaped, but homemade nachos not only taste great, but impress party guests. Here's how to make the perfect scoop-shaped nachos in a mini muffin pan.
Next step: custom chip. Chips are, of course, made from corn tortilas. So making your own chip is really not that big a deal: You just fry a corn tortila. No problem. Getting the tortilla into the muffin divot: a little bit more of a problem. You can't just cram the thing, because it will just crumple up, consuming all the space that is reserved for cheese. Never forget: This is about cheese.
In order to make a chip that fit in the tray perfectly, we enlisted the help of staff writer Jamie Condliffe, who also happens to have a Phd in engineering. We got the dimensions of the muffin divots—top diameter, internal diameter, and height of the sides—and then used CAD to figure out a shape that would fold perfectly into the muffin tin.
The rather geeky instructions for making your own scoop-shaped chips to hold and contain the perfect amount of cheese, salsa, sour cream, and other delicious additions are at Gizmodo. Link -via Nag on the Lake
Cheese curds, fries and sharp cheddar. Fry them between two slices of bread and dip the sandwich in beef gravy. Nick of DudeFoods may not be a trained chef, but he's mastered the craft.
So. It has come full circle. First, Taco Bell launched the Doritos Locos
Tacos, a taco
with shell made from Doritos chips. Now, Doritos is making chips that
tastes like the Taco Bell taco!
A variety of flavors were tested for the Doritos Locos Tacos before
executives settled on Nacho Cheese, which is by far the most popular
Doritos flavor (Cool Ranch is second). But Frito-Lay didn’t want
its Doritos name on just any taco shell, so it created a special, crunchier
shell for the Doritos Locos Tacos.
‘‘They wanted it to have that teeth-rattling crunch,’’
Creed said.
