Ranch Dressing Soda Exists

ranch dressing soda

Awesome! This is a great addition to the Lester's Fixins line, which includes sweet corn, bacon, buffalo wing and peanut butter and jelly flavors.

But I prefer blue cheese soda. That's the right combination of creamy and tart.

What unusual soda flavor would you like to taste?

Soda Shaq Will Slam Dunk Your Thirst

Arizona Tea has partnered with Shaq to release a new line of cream sodas. They'll all come in 20 ounce "tall boy" cans because everything related to Shaq must be bigger...and because that's the standard size of Arizona teas I guess.

Personally, I'm going to get the strawberry because, let's face it, nothing makes you want to chug a beverage more than Shaq sticking his tongue out at you.

Slow Time Cafe

Sit down and relax. There's no hurry to finish your coffee at the Slow Time Cafe - you can stay as long as you'd like without the cafe staff glaring at you for taking up valuable seats. Heck, you can even bring your own food.

The catch? You have to pay by the minute:

Customers are charged €0.05 per minute, amounting to €3.00 an hour. When they come in the door, [cafe owner] Volkova gives them a wristband with the time marked on it. When they leave they hand it back and their bill is calculated to the minute.

Would you patronize such a pay-by-the-minute cafe?

8 Bizarre Candies Spotted at the 99 Cents Store

The 99¢ Only Stores are great places to pick up cheap stuff, but also the best for spotting the funniest, strangest brands. Here are 8 candies that I'd never heard of before this past weekend. Anyone every try any of these? Leave a comment below and let us know!

1. Big Hunk

On the back, it reads "Bust it. Smack it." Um??

2. Belly Flops

Look what it says on the back! Basically, you're buying their rejects. Om no-thanks-m.

3. Warheads

Chewy cubes in a new bigger size! Wait, I think I missed the original size. Darn?

4. Super Cucharazo

Not sure what that is in the spoon, but I'm not buying it.

5. Texas Hold'Em

Almost bought these just for the tagline: Winner eats all!

6. Graffiti Taffy

At the bottom of the bag it says: "Different flavors every time!" Yeah, more reject candy... I don't think so.

7. 8 Chocolatey Covered Marshmallows

This candy is so sorry looking, it doesn't even have a real name!

8. Sweet'N Low

Don't like it in my coffee, so I'm probably not going to enjoy the "candy" version either. Oh, and surprise-surprise, it's "sugar free."

Pork-Stuffed Pig Bread

pork

The best thing about pigs is that they're made of pork. The chef behind the blog Golosolandia has improved upon this design. These little pig-shaped loaves of bread are filled with pancetta, bacon and chorizo--all products of that wonderful, magical animal.

Pot Infused Bacon

2

When life hands you too much cannabis you make pot infused bacon.

Top Shelf Organics, a medical marijuana grower in Washington State, found themselves with a bit of a dilemma. What should they do with all those leftover stems, roots, and over-sized cannabis leaves? In true cooperative fashion they donated the cannabis waste to Bucking Boar Farm for pig feed. The result was win, win for everyone, but the pig. The pot grower reduced their waste costs, the farmer got free feed, and the consumer got pot infused bacon.

The pot infused meat was sold through BB Ranch Meats in Pike Place Market.

The shop sold four pigs in various forms earlier this year, including with pot-infused bacon. The meat "tasted savory," von Schneidau said, adding that he has a small amount leftover that he's using to make into prosciutto.

Funny, I thought they would describe the meat as being more mellow.

Cheese Bank

Photo: Consorzio del Formaggio Parmigiano-Reggiano

You'd expect to find gold bullions inside the vast vault of The Credito Emiliano bank in Italy, but instead, you'd find something else just as valuable: Parmesan cheese.

Oddity Central explains:

Cash-for-cheese sounds more like a joke that a serious financial agreement, but in some regions of Italy it’s a reality. The famous Parmesan is so precious that some banks are willing to keep the cheese as collateral against loans to local producers.

The Credito Emiliano bank has hundreds of branches and thousands of employees around central and northern Italy. Its central offices look like those of any other banking institution, with cameras watching every angle, security doors to lock down the place and even a big vault in the back. Only you’re not going to find too many diamonds or hard cash stored in there. Instead, there are hundreds of thousands of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheels, neatly placed on giant shelves. The bank takes the Parmesan from local producers in exchange for a cheap loan, and charges a 3% interest as well as a fee for looking after the cheese and making sure it matures properly in the air-conditioned, humidified vault. It might seem strange, but Credito Emiliano treats Parmigiano-Reggiano like other banks do gold. And for good reason, as the mountains of cheese locked away in its secured vault are worth around $200 million.

As if locusts weren't tasty enough already, the Café & Bar Ristorante Absente in Tokyo now serves them on spaghetti. Rocket News 24 reports:

In their press release, restaurant owner Pasta Dio would like to remind everyone that locusts are an excellent source of calcium, protein, and vitamin A and were used in Japan during times of war to fight malnutrition and save lives. They even claim that once you get past the initial heebie-jeebies, locusts actually have an addictive texture that makes you come back for more.
