Popping Corn One Kernel at a Time

Design students Laurent Beirnaert, Pierre Bouvier, and Paul Tubiana created "Oncle Sam," a machine that pops popcorn one kernel at a time. It can even butter and salt each individual kernel! Not all that efficient, but as an art project it's fun to watch. The contraption is part of a French exhibit called "Low Tech Factory." See a video of it working at Laughing Squid. Link

I cut my toast in the "Mini Toast Rack" style, but my family calls it "butterflies". I cut my PB&J sammies (thank you, Rachael Ray!) that way too, but I cut my ham n' cheese sammies again, in the "Squares" pattern, ending up with 8 bite-sized sections.

I've always cut my kids' sandwiches in the "Mini Toast Rack" style. This provides maximum consumability and minimum mess for children who don't eat the crusts.

I always cut my sandwiches corner to corner. I don't know why, it's just the only one that feels "right". When we make eggs over medium, I cut toast into soldiers to dip them into the eggs. Delicious!

I eat toast dry (without topppings - not even butter.) I eat the crusts first, and then I fold the remaining toast in half and eat it.
