Time Out

I can so relate to this. Most of my kids’ teachers have been wonderful, enthusiastic, friendly, and knowledgable people. But there was this one kindergarten teacher who was the old schoolmarm, pursed-lips, by-the-book type that intimidated me so much I felt like an elementary student in trouble all over again, even though she was probably younger than I was at the time. It took a year to get my daughter to enjoy school again after that experience. This vignette is the latest from Lunarbaboon.

I suppose I should be on the child's side. Poor kid, not enjoying what's happening in school, having a parent supporting his misbehavior, etc.

But, having been a teacher, I really have to disagree with this 'show'. Not every child is perfect. Not every child performs to his/her teacher's expectations. IF, and I say this with the most utter respect - IF the parents would just take a moment and see what their teacher is dealing with BEFORE they have a crank-ass meltdown because their kid is not as perfect as she/he should be... Then life would be such a happy place to live in.

Parents? Make your kids follow their country's rules and teach them how to respect each other. It's not a hard thing to do but it will make a BIG DIFFERENCE in how they make their way in this world.

Help your kids, dammit!!
