Sonic The Hedgehog Breaks Record For A Video Game Movie’s Three-Day Opening

Pulling in $57 million dollars compared to Detective Pikachu’s $54.3 million, Paramount’s film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog broke the record for a video game movie’s three-day opening.

Worldwide, the flick has earned about $100 million, with countries like Mexico and the UK showing stronger demand than most.

As you may remember, the initial trailer was so bad it can make a Sonic fan throw up in disgust. Thankfully, the film’s producers really took the fan backlash seriously, and revamped Sonic’s design. And now, their efforts paid off.

Can’t wait to watch the film one of these days.

Unfortunately it has Jim Carrey as Robotnik doing his most annoying "obnoxious character" shtick. I would guess this one is probably only for Sonic enthusiasts.
