When I saw this sculpture, I knew that I had see more by the artist. Dug Stanat's work is a treat! He makes dark and funny creatures that he hopes "leads you into a little daydream." I can daydream about this cheery fellow titled Hell's Greeter.
In an interview about his work, Stanat describes how he gets inspired:
I often listen to music and books on tape while working…generally the darker the material, the better, and I like to draw ideas from a few words or single sentences, so inspiration spins off of, rather than follows, the thrust of the source. Poe, Lovecraft, Shelly, and Tom Waits come to mind.
I wonder what Stanat was listening to while composing The Wrong End of the Rainbow.
