China has remained the epicentre of global cryptocurrency mining but yet the bitcoin miners have long embodied a contradiction, as cryptocurrency trading is illegal in China. Offerings, used to fund new blockchain projects, are banned and Chinese banks can barely touch the stuff. Now the Chinese government is proposing to ban bitcoin mining.
