The comic strip 'Little Orphan Annie' finally went under about 10 years ago, after decades of decreasing circulation. But back in the 1930's, it was one of the hottest properties around, inspiring radio programs, comic books, theatrical productions, films, and so forth. And, of course, it was THE favorite newspaper comic strip of many people. Like other heritage comic strips whose creators are long dead, it changed radically over the years, and someone who might have read it in the 1980's had no idea what it was like 50 years earlier.
Today we offer you that chance, by giving access to probably THE most famous LOA continuity of all time, in which Annie meets Mr. Am, a godlike being seemingly with the powers of God. This is a long story arc from 1937, and comic strips back at that time could be violent, and this one certainly is, so be advised if you want to read it with the kids. Like all LOA strips of the day, there is great villainy, poetic justice, and a happy ending, so relax for an hour or two and take in Harold Gray's masterwork.
