100 Years of Gasoline Alley

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the debut of the comic strip Gasoline Alley, which is a milestone by any definition. Although the comic strip The Katzenjammer Kids (aka The Captain and the Kids) is even older, it went into reruns long ago, whereas Gasoline Alley continues to run new material.

Revisit the adventures of Walt Wallet (118 years old and still kicking), Doc, Avery, Pert, and a host of others, and see how the strip's style and content has evolved over a century by visiting here.

Mark Evanier, whose writings I've followed for many years, has a short piece on Gasoline Alley in his November blog. For some awesome first person history on the comics/entertainment world, check out his POV columns under the Articles section on his blog site.
