Every new year brings with it a new batch of internet memes to make us laugh and give us fresh new material to share on social media, which means it's almost time to say goodbye to the memes of 2017.

But my pick for best meme of 2017 is Cuca the Alligator, who was the villain in a Brazilian kids show from the early 2000s and took the internet by storm in the summer of 2017.
Cuca's flamboyantly funky style and her sassy attitude made her the perfect subject for meme-ification, and like the Babadook she became a gay social media icon almost overnight.
It also had an animated version up until 2016.
