Beat the Freeze

"Beat the Freeze" is a bit of entertainment during at Atlanta Braves games, in which a fan gets a chance to race against the character called The Freeze. They even give the fan a 200-foot head start. That head start can disorient a fellow.

The moral of the story is: don't celebrate until you cross the finish line! As others have pointed out there's a greater-than-zero chance that the whole thing was staged, but it's still funny.  -via Metafilter

I have nothing against these promotions being rigged for the fan to win -as long as it doesn't come at the expense of other competitors from the stands. The people who say this one is rigged think that the "fan" is an actor and did the premature celebration as part of the entertainment. Possible, but it could easily have been genuine, too.

I took my my 14 year old Grandson to a minor league ball game here in Fort Myers in April. A promo team got him to do a race with a guy dressed in a Taco outfit. Of course it was rigged for him to win and he won coupons good a a local taco place. It was fun.
