The Polish Village Covered in Flowers

Zalipie is a small town in Poland that has a strange and beautiful tradition of painting flowers on just about everything -dating back from the 1800s.

Of course, like all traditions, it had to start somewhere. In this case, it was because the locals started getting new furnaces with chimneys in the 1800s and women decided to cover up blackened walls in their homes with floral paintings. Eventually the tradition spread to other areas of the home and even outside the homes and now it seems the whole town is covered in flowers.

Even the trees have flowers painted on them!
