The 21st century has proven to be more regressive than any of us could have imagined, so we might as well continue moving backwards until we reach the Dark Ages once again.
That means public torture, people tossing trash out their window, and one gruesome yet effective form of birth control- the chastity belt.
Okay, obviously I'm exaggerating about societal regression, and nobody's in a hurry to bring back the chastity belt, except for one artist/inventor/mad genius named Ira Sherman.
Ira has been creating crazy contraptions (see kinetic sculptures) since 1974, and his beautiful but potentially painful mechanical artworks are both wondrous to behold and full of social commentary.
His pneumatic chastity belt, called the CremistericDevice0001, makes a fairly straightforward statement, and although the video is a bit painful for men to watch it's also sure to get you thinking.
