Blind Date with a Book

Photo via reddit

Don't judge a book by its cover ... judge them by these cryptic keywords, instead! A bookstore in Amsterdam wrapped a number of books in plain brown paper and taped hints like "Science-Fiction," "Ambiguous Utopia," "World Without Government," and "Brilliant Physicist" to help you guess the books inside.

"Try a blind date with a book!" The sign above the bin said, "With only the keywords as hints you can't judge these books by their cover. Purchase the book at the counter and unwrap. A great way to discover new books."

See if you can guess the titles of the books in the photo above.

"Science-Fiction, Ambiguous Utopia, World Without Government, Brilliant Physicist" might be one of Asimov's Foundation books.

The other SF, "exoskeletons, etc" is probably either "Edge of Tomorrow", as the movie was known or "All You Need is Kill", as the source material is known. Did they write a book from a movie that was based on a book?

Exoskeletons vs Aliens may be "Starship Troopers", esp with Tom Cruise, although live/die/repeat sounds like Haldeman's "Forever War" series.
Mississippi Riverboat may be one of the "Riverworld" series.

"Fevre Dream" is one of the worst books I have ever read. After having read Game of Thrones I was excited to find this book in a store and bought it. What a pot boiler. Had I read this book first I never would have read Game of Thrones.

"Fantasy, Poker Tournament, Gambling demons and monsters, Underdog" Probably way wrong here but all I could think of was "Dungeons and dragons"...
