Study Finds Which NFL Fanbases Have the Worst Grammar

(Photo: Kevin Coles)

Grammarly, a grammar and spellchecking program, can search through text to find more than 400 different types of errors. Recently, to demonstrate the capabilities of Grammarly, the company that makes it examined 150 reader comments that were at least 50 words long in the discussion boards of each official NFL team website.  It then ranked which teams had the most philologically-challenged fans.

Fans of the Washington Redskins won the contest with approximately 16.5 mistakes for every 100 words. Go Redskins!

They're measuring grammar mistakes among NFL fans. It's like doing a state-by-state breakdown of finger cheesiness among World of Warcraft players. Even the cleanest of them are gonna be pretty orange.

I'm surprised they were able to find comments with more than 50 words. "Cowboys Suck!", "Dan Snyder Sucks!", "Go Pack!", "Ravens Rule! Steelers suck!" would seem to me to be the plethora of the comments. Nothing close to 50 words. And they actually were able to garner 150 comments for the Buccaneers? Were they all from the same person?
