Portents of Doom from 16th-century Germany

If you cannot picture the End of Days in your mind, here's a place to start. Joshua P. Waterman recently compiled a collection of gouache and watercolor paintings produced around the year 1552 that illustrate the apocalypse as described in the Bible. The Book of Miracles has 169 of these images! We don’t know who the artist is, but we can imagine the horror that the paintings brought to those who could not read the Bible themselves, and even those who could. Read more about the collection and see more pictures at Dangerous Minds.
