Jason Oakes is a comic book artist who digitally creates rough but striking images of his subjects. His entire gallery is worth exploring, particularly if you're a Marvel or DC fan.
He claims Alphonse Mucha, Jackson Pollock and Vincent Van Gogh as influences. I can definitely see the latter two in this glorious image of Star Trek's Enterprise (NCC-1701-D).
