I Don't Own a TV

At one time, it was a shame if you had to drop in on your neighbors to see The Andy Griffith Show. You obviously did not own a TV only because you could not afford one. Then as TV took over our lives, it became more cool to ignore it, because you were bucking a trend. Lately, just saying the words "I don't have a TV" will get you labeled as a hipster braggart. Besides, we know that even if you don't have a TV set, you're watching shows on your computer or handheld device. This graph is the latest from Randall Munroe at xkcd.

One problem I have with that chart is that it was a lot closer to 2000 when it crossed the 'neutral' line - yeah, there were smug people, but just as many embarrassed people (spoken as one who let neighbors watch my teevee well into the '90s).

I just watch TV on my computer. But I now watch TV differently. Instead of following multiple shows, I watch one show from start to finish.

I got on an anime kick over the summer and have been watching little but anime since then. That would not have been possible when I was a kid.
