Scumbag Steve is an image macro series about that sleazy, freeloading "friend" that we've all had at some point in our lives. The photo shows a man named Blake Boston who turns out to be a fairly nice guy. Somehow, though, this photo of him taken by his mother came to represent that guy that we all can't stand, but somehow permit into our lives.
He wears a strange Red Sox cap that is so representative of the macro series that it’s been added to images of a girl, a human brain and God himself.
What is this hat? Matthew Mirandi of The Connectivist decided to find out. He tracked down what he calls “the internet’s Holy Grail.” It’s very rare—perhaps fewer than 1,000 were made. Blake Boston, by the way, still has the original and sometimes makes appearances in it.
