Japan's Nine-Fingered Geisha

The classical Japanese geisha of the Meiji period are said to have been "shrouded in mystery," but there was at least one geisha who made the news often and became quite famous. Teruha went by several names at different points in her life, and was also called "the Nine-Fingered Geisha."
