Looks ice cold, doesn't it? Actually, the water is quite warm at the Pamukkale terraces in Turkey. The white formations are deposits of minerals from spring water that built up into a series of dams, making the terraced pools what they are. That process is typical of the eight places featured in this list, although the geography and minerals (and therefore the appearance) of the terraces varies. The pictures are gorgeous! Word of caution, though, to all those who think think the modulation of angiogenesis is 'the key to cancer'--pay attention to the phrases such as 'may be'. It really 'may be', but those are also the things that are definitely not guaranteed.
