In fact, Scott Adams once said at a lecture at MIT "People also ask me why Dilbert doesn't have a mouth." He drew Dilbert with a mouth in front of the audience, and it was clear that Dilbert didn't look right.
One of the physicists at the Manhattan Project built one of these - for the life of me I can't remember which one, though. Could have been Feynman - I'll have to dig out my Project Orion book where I read it.
I've taken the task to build one in 2010, call it a good resolution, follow it on my friends blog here,http://www.arduenn.com/?comment=4019 or on my photoblog http://www.flickr.com/photos/bas-marie/sets/72157622995805469/
when finished i will blog it here on neatorama and we'll have a blast.
