Mysterious Blue Spheres That Fell From The Sky

Add this to the list of mysterious things that fell from the sky:

Steve Hornsby from Bournemouth said the 3cm diameter balls came raining down late on Thursday afternoon during a hail storm.

He found about a dozen of the balls in his garden. He said: "[They're] difficult to pick up, I had to get a spoon and flick them into a jam jar." [...]

Walking around his garden he found many more blue spheres were scattered across the grass.

He said: "The have an exterior shell with a softer inner but have no smell, aren't sticky and do not melt."

Well, Neatoramanauts, what do you think is the explanation?

It could be a super-intelligent shade of the color blue that fell out of its hyper-dimensional travel prism.

Or some kid is throwing marbles in his yard and he's just very gullible.

I'm going with Silica gel. There's an agricultural version that farmers plow into fields that will swell to the size of marbles and comes in 50 lbs bags. Seems like an idea for a hilarious gag. At night before the sprinklers start, sprinkle a bag on someones lawn. In the morning, yard full of marbles.

If unicorn eggs are unbreakable, this must mean they have hatched...

I'd be keeping an eye out for increased unicorn sightings in the Bournemouth area.

Unicorn eggs, of course, but the real question is how id they get into his yard. Without knowing his standing in the community, I cannot determine if they are a compliment or a threat.

They are actually the eggs of a very rare type of frog long thought to be extinct. Species name Caelum rana. Glad to see reports of its demise we're greatly exaggerated.

I saw some of these on sale on the Internet for like $1 a small package. Now they sell them at my local crafts store for like $5 a VERY small package.

P.S. WIthout any more evidence than that given, I favor the explanation that they are hydrogels which Hornsby spilled in the yard when they were dry and which soaked up water during the storm, swelling to their current blue glory. Hornsby probably just forgot he was using hydrogel to start seeds in his garden... or is looking for his 15 minutes of fame which has so far eluded him!

Weren't these the things that killed a bunch of people in Washington state years ago? Something about them having Human material in them and spreading flu-like symptoms.
