This is no more a hologram than any other persistence of vision gadget. Different viewpoints of an object are generated and reflected off of a moving mirror -- big deal. You wanna try putting your hand into that?

I called my little Star Wars freak 9 year old son over to see this article. This is a direct quote from him:

This is a pretty ancient idea, though I hope it gets further than the one shown on Tomorrow's World in the 90s. IIRC they used a phosphor coated spinning helix and a laser which excited it.
