Mini Electric Humvee

General Motors closed the HUMMER automotive plant in 2010, right on the brink of releasing the incredible HX™ model, a vehicle, that the majority believe would have saved them.

The compact MEV HUMMER HX is a mini vehicle that features classic HUMMER design including the louver grille, custom wheels, door sills, styled seats and floor mats. The coolest thing about it is that it is electric and can be charged from a 12V charging point. It is aimed at a young consumer who appreciates economy and eco- friendliness.

I'm very skeptical of these "mini" versions of vehicles. Mini SUVs/pickup trucks and jeeps tend to have a high center of gravity and which can leave it prone to a high roll-over of the vehicle. The changes required to compensate this such has having a wider wheel base are disregarded due to having to raise the cost, so they make cheap adjustments such as a stronger roof so it doesn't crush the driver inside when the vehicle is on it's roof. It's probably for the best that they scrapped the Hummer entirely.

12V charger? Must've been for a VERY young consumer!

HX was a styling concept for the H4 which didn't make it to production, and there was never an electric powertrain in the program.

I doubt the Hummer's target demographic is remotely interested in reducing their carbon footprint or even saving money on gas, so the real story still sorta reads like an Onion article.
