Saudi Arabia Plans to Build Mile-High Building

Saudi Arabia's proposed Kingdom Tower will rise to 5,280 feet. That's a full mile. If completed, this building in Jeddah will cost $30 billion to build and will contain apartments, hotel rooms, and offices in its 12 million cubic feet of space. The above graphic compares the structure to the Petronis Tower (center) in Malaysia and the Empire State Building (left) in the US. Currently, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa, which is 2,700 feet tall.

I'd feel exactly the same way about this if it was built in Canada (my home), or anywhere else. It's human pride, whether it is over and against other nations or nature itself. It is not practical, it is dangerous and likely just comes from the machoism "Bigger is Better". All this kind of thing makes me sick to the heart when I think about how petty and superficial the motives are and how real and painful the consequences can be.

Look, man. Not all of us run around in Hummers. I think the building is dumb as he'll regardless of whatever country it wants to be in.

And anybody who wants to see misery fall upon other bunches of people who have literally nothing to do with governmental disputes is a douche. Freaking seriously.
