The automatypewriter was conceived as a platform for interactive fiction. It types better than I do and can detect what is being typed on it. It differs from a teletype machine in that the keys move on their own and it can send and/or receive text from a computer via USB. The kinks are still being worked out but you can actually visit the automatypewriter at Site 3 coLaboratory in Toronto.
