Cuddly IKEA Stuffed Animals

I mean, if you find cockroaches cuddly. Or is it a roly poly? I don't know what this thing is supposed to be, and I can't find it on the IKEA site. All I know is that I was simultaneously repulsed and amused when I saw a big bin of these at IKEA the other day, so I snapped a picture. His mouth zips open, so he can be used for storage or as a purse or something. I thought about getting this for a friend's upcoming baby shower, but then decided she probably wouldn't appreciate the gesture.

I'm torn. What do you guys think - funny? Creepy? Or both?

That's not in the store anymore, but it's an ugly/cute beaver from IKEA.

I think it's cute, but some of my friends think it's the scariest thing they've ever seen.

I asked the Ikea sales person what it was. They were undecided on the creature but knew it was a pajama holder for little kids. So you can take your squishy bug (a bed bug we all agreed) with you and it will hold your PJs. I've seen similar other animals that unzip to hold blankets or PJs so this made sense to me. Why anyone would want a critter that bites you in your sleep we couldn't decide.

I was never big on dolls or stuffed animals. However, any unusual stuffed animal I see, I buy. Those I am big on. I am going to have to take a field trip to every Ikea in the area.

Any idea if they're available in Ireland or continental Europe? I would love one of them things!

Hmmm... Guess I could get my brother to get me one, if they're available in the UK...

It is a roly poly (I'm a zoologist, so dare not question my 1/2 second off the cuff answer...). My girlfriend bought me one last year, and when we visited IKEA last weekend, there was a whole bin of them on sale. I guess not everyone likes the cute little things. Those butt-ugly beavers were in an adjacent bin, on major markdown as well. Well-deserved; they are really ugly.

My dad actually bought me one of these things, and I think it's kind of adorable! It has a zippered mouth, and you can keep a set of pajamas n it for when you go to a friend's house, adn then it doubles as a small pillow! I think it's neat.

Too many unbelievers here. That's the larval stage of the FSM. Do ye not see the first of His great noodly appendages sprouting? It is all as foretold in Good Housekeeping's Egg & Cheese Spaghetti Cookbook (1958, CBP, Chicago).

Is anyone willing to sell one to me?
I am helping someone with a bug phobia and there seems to be a lack of cute bug related toys and this one is perfect!
My email address is stephie19@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks

I have one, it's so cute! I think it's a roly poly, but I don't know. I saw a couple in the window of a cloting store, and the clothes were all grey and green, the same colors! It was so funny!

I'm sorry to hear that we are not to be found in Ikea at the moment. I'm sure we will make a welcome return at some point. I was personally taken home by a lovely family who have looked after me very well. They even helped me to set up my own facebook page so I can stay in touch with all my friends.
