Chubby Cuppy Cake

YouTube

Update 10/24/08 by Alex - The original The Cuppycake Song (written by Judianna Castle) was sung by her daughter Amy Castle back in 1994. This version was (presumably) lip-synched by Job McCully. Job's not fat - the chubbiness you see is the result of medications. Here is Job's story | Job's website at CaringBridge | Extreme Makeover Home Edition episode for the McCully

This is just sad...first the parents let their kid get this big (sorry if there is a medical condition) and then they make a video of him and post it to Youtube so millions of people can see it and make fun of this poor little kid. Child Protective Agency needs to be alerted!

This is the stuff of nightmares. David Lynch may have a role for that kid in one of his movies. As for him having a "medical/glandular" problem, all I can think of is Eric Cartman claiming "I'm not fat! I'm big-boned!"
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Based on the way his cheeks don't move like normal cheeks should, I'm thinking it's some kind of disease/allergy. (i.e. his face is swollen)

I mean, he doesn't look like he's a slim kid to begin with, but I'm thinking he's got whatever he's got and his parents got him to sing the song because it's funny..
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Are you sure that's a child?! Looks more like a well made, life-like robot! It gives Sony, and their robo-dog, a run for their money.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
LOL @ childhood obesity!

But yeah Alison is probably right, I think his cheeks are merely swollen from some sort of allergy or medical procedure. Watch the camera move down a bit. The kid's big, but he isn't that big.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Wow, someone found my mini-me. I'm takin that boy to Sonny's for all ya can eat ribs!
I think it was cute.

The rest of you need to get over your "Holier than Thou" shit eating attitudes.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
The kid has the classic look of someone who takes a lot of steroids for a medical condition. The really red cheeks are the give away.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Wow. Some mean-spirited commenters, here. Like a fat little kid is the weirdest and most appalling thing ever. Come on, he's cute... Jeez!

Yes, he is lip-syncing. The "Cuppy Cake" song has been around for years, long enough that the little girl who sang it has grown into an amazingly pretty young woman with her own Youtube acco8unt.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I hope his immense girth is the result of glandular abnormalities and not gross overindulgence. If the latter is the cause, his parents should be shot.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
hilariously cute and....disturbing.

the snookums-snookums thing is entirely awesome.

i wonder how old he is, 'cause he really does have good performance instinct.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Too cute, even if he is grossly obese. For some reason, it reminded of the lip-synching flap with the Chinese girls at the Olympics.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
i think he's adorable. what is with all the people jumping on every negative aspect and disecting this poor kid without knowing what's going on? even if his parents were somehow to blame - that shouldn't make HIM the object of ridicule. he's just a kid. to the adults that said nasty things about him - you really should be ashamed of yourselves. you know your kids pick up these things and will go on to make fun of others as well - not a nice trait. as a kid who was picked on in school - let me tell you, it's hell. why not just enjoy a cute little boy lip synching to the 'Cuppy Cake' song? why does it have to get all nasty?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Can you please add a message to this entry stating that this little boy is a cancer survivor who has survived a bone marrow transplant as well as TWO lung transplants?

He and his family will appear on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition this Sunday, October 26th. They are the McCully family.

This kid is darling and I truly feel for his plight. Look at what all of you said about him. I don't even WATCH Extreme Makeover and I found this information.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
That kid is absolutely adorable, and so what if he isn't a Gerber baby or a Shirley Temple. It was entertaining and he and his family have a video that will make them smile for years. To me, that makes it 'effin rad!
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Oh come now. We don't know the kids history sure he maybe obese or even worse he could have a medical problem. I can't believe how some folks can get so vocal over this kid without having the full details. :(
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Awww! I loved it!!! I'm with the lovers on this one. The haters need to get their self-righteous, sanctimonious heads out of their a@#$, and remember that their crap smells as bad as anyone elses! He's a kid for cryin' out loud! Why shouldn't he have his moment to shine or have a fun time? You people who like cutting a child down just cos you don't like the look of him need to be hung & quartered, period. It's a good thing for him that he can explain appearance by virtue (?) of being sick...geez!!
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
it's pretty sad that we need to have 'extra info' added explaining that this child has medical issues - just so people won't rip him to shreds. do you really require a medical reason to prevent you from making fun of a child? why do so many go right for the insults? maybe you'd think twice if your child had something that set him/her apart from other children. it's really sickening how people have jumped on this poor kid - for just having fun, being himself and making a cute video.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Wow... I had no idea this would be so volatile. I just thought the little kid was adorable (especially his little eyebrow dance at the end). I think jodie summed it well. I guess I should have known better, with the past comments people make on this site.

Thanks Mattie for clarifying. I'll be sure to do a little more research next time as a preemptive strike for all the negative people out there.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Only In America! Poor, poor boy...
Who is sicker, his parents who put him on the internet,or the boy himself, who suffers from some terrible diseases?
The bright side is he probably won't live long enough to develop a mental trauma aubout this clip.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I thought it was very cute indeed.

But he'll be dead by the time he's 30 if he maintains that sort of weight.

Which is significantly less cute.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I hope a follow up is done so we can all know what his medical condition is because it's obvious that his look isn't natural. To all you haters...you're pathetic.

By the way, Mattie is wrong about his family being on EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME ADDITION this week. Check it out at ABC.com. It's about a ten year old girl with leukemia.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
This isn't fake. It looks like the kid is on a form of steroids, and making a broad guess based upon his hair, perhaps it is a treatment associated with cancer. Unfortunately, I have seen this repeatedly first hand.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Wow. Y'all have some messed up attitudes....Not that I don't, I'm just sayin'.
On the one hand, if the kid is "just" fat, his parents are horrifying monsters, eh? But, if the kid is sick, then comments about him, or laughing at him atempting to be funny are wrong, eh?
I might be messed up, but I'm glad I'm not y'all.
(Going to make fun of my dialect, now? I thought you might)
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Just wanted to comment again. Some people take things at face value and don't do a ton of research before making a simple comment on an internet message board. Give me a break! Obese children are NOT healthy! Making fun of them is not right either but to ignorantly look the other way is just as wrong.

Personally, I didn't think the song was cute at all. I didn't do research on this child. All I saw was a morbidly obese child lipsynching to a song comparing someone he cares about to sugary junk food. Honestly I don't care if medications are making him reach this unhealthy weight. Obesity causes death in children. PERIOD.

I apoligize moderator Alex for my lengthy post. I just wanted to weigh in on the people that are shocked at this child's size.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
i found this info online about this lil boy! i think people should be ashamed of themselves making fun of a innocent lil boy, regardless if he has medical issues or not! he is just a lil boy!

At only 10 years old, Job McCully is an inspiration to his small town, surviving leukemia, a bone marrow and double lung transplant. After years spent in and out of the hospital Job was finally able to go home in March. However, because of his health, the family wasn't able to return to their sinking, moldy and dilapidated home. Ty and the team help bring the house up to code so Job and his family will be able to return home.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Those big red cheeks (and general fatness) are a side effect of anti-rejection drugs for transplant patients.

Definitely not regular weight gain though. Blindingly obvious on that note.

Maybe that could be added to the posting to educate the violent in here?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I don't think sick children (be they morbidly obese or afflicted with some other ailment) should be exploited by their fame-seeking parents. I am more disgusted by that than commenters expressing dismay about this child's disturbing appearance.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Yes, he's overweight...so are a lot of people. We're not all size 8 and perfect. It isn't a perfect world. He's a sweet little boy who obviously likes to sing.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
http://www.katv.com/news/stories/1207/480158_video.html?ref=newsstory

There's a news story about Job McCully. Poohaps you can do a follow-up to this to give some info about Job? His story is actually quite uplifting, but sad.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Wow, a lot of over-reaction: "educate the violent"?

Look, the kid is singing "you're my cupcake, honeybun..."

Maybe if he was singing a non-food-related song, it wouldn't lend to the impression that this kid got fat from overeating.

As I said, it was cute, but the kid is grossly obese, and putting this on YouTube invites criticism. It's like they're flaunting his obesity. That's odd.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Hey all. I am Job's mom and although I can see the resemblance and understand how this child is getting confused with Job (especially compared to his "Rocket" video posted on www.jobs-miracle.com). This is not Job. You can watch Job's story on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Sunday night (10/26/08) at 8/7c on ABC.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Hey guys, you should change this post. The boy doing the playback is evidently not Job. You can easily tell by looking into the webpage you are linking to.
Hey, even his mother has commented here and confirmed it isn't him.
Hi Tina! Let me tell you that you are one great example of a good and loving mother. Best wishes for you and Job.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
YOu guys are all mean this poor child has a kidney problem and he is on steroids that is why his cheeks are big. Instead of being rude and mean pray for him so they can find treatment for his disorder. SHame on you, really.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
You idiots! You don't realize what you've just said. He had a rare kidney disease. He just died you morons! Have some respect and sympathy.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
He has severe kidney issues and some other kind of medical issues. I cant remember all the problems he has. When this was recorded he was on a bunch of steroids.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I really just want to punch some of you people! You did good Job McCully!!! You're an amazing little boy and that video was very cute! I'd like you to know you helped me with my project for anat and phys and I got an A all thanks to you!!!!!
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
The kid's name is Sam and hes 9 last time i checked he has a medical problem that makes his body attack his kidney the steroids he takes make him get to live but at the cost of being overweight and he is average weight for a 9 year old hes just really short which makes him look really fat 90% of the kids who have this disease need the steroids to live all the people making fun of him actually learn before saying hes fat go to youtube and you'll find him on a doctor show
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
YOU ALL ARE STUPID. he is not chubby, obese, fat, nor has he eaten too many cupcakes. This adorable 9 year old boy has a kidney disease which could kill him. The steroids that he is using causes his growth to be stunted however he weighs what an average 9 year old should weigh. Everyone that made those rude comments... GROW UP.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
you know- that little boy cant help his size. he has a kidney disease and the steroids he has to take for it made him chubby. he cant help it. he was born with that disease. i honestly dont know how you people could be so heartless. no- its not his parents fault that he is chubby.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
he is actually not that fat,it actually is a medical condition, they had him n the show the doctors...they showed pictures of him a few months before and he was a very skinny child, i forget what the medical condition was but you can search it up,just telling you guys so that everyone will stop making fun of him.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
dude this kid hasent eaten cupcakes he has medical problems he has kidney conditions he has to take some kind of steroids to keep him alive and it causes his cheakes to swell up like that he really isint fat and they made that video and some people saw it and there finding a cure for his conditions so yeah dont make fun off a poor little kid if you do you dont got a fucken life my dude
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
My god people, some of you are just so insensitive. His immune system is attacking his kidneys and he is so sick. All of you should be ashamed of yourself for judging people from just their appearance.

I truly hope that there will be a cure one day and until that day comes, I will pray for Sam to remain strong. His video has once again reminded me that we are lucky to be healthy...
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
this kid has a disease he actually died because of it his parents have nothing to do with it and if you said something ignorent you should feel very ashamed!i cannot believe what people can say thats the same as making fun of a kid with cancer...
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
you people are mostly all pathetic, saying that a little kid with a rare kidney condition probably ate too many cupcakes is vulgar and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. read up on him before you make cued accusations asshole.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
The original child that sang the cuppy cake song just passed away after a short battle with cancer. They lived next door to my aunt in Nevada. Really tragic.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
See, at first I believed that this charming young man was over-weight due to eating.
Unlike the commentators on this page, I looked it up without leaving a hateful and negative comment, not knowing the entire story.
Sam Allred, which is his name had any of you bothered to find out, suffers from his immune system ATTACKING his kidneys. He goes thru excessive steroids so he can actually survive!
The moral of his story is to keep living and make it the best you can.
The moral of what I wrote this for is to think before you speak. Or better yet, if you can't say something nice, DON'T say anything at all.

May my prayers for him reach the ears of god.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
all of u people r just ignorant the poor boy has leukemia and has survived so much in his life him and his family were on extreme home makeover i just watched it..the treatment he is on makes him gain weight geez u people r so judgmental its sad u have to pick on him without even knowing the story abt him TYPE IT IN DUMB ASSES Job Mccully google it u will learn all abt him.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Okay, folks here's the deal:

His name is actually Sam Allred. He lives in Alaska with his family. He has a medical condition, a disease of the kidneys, called IgM Nephropathy. This medical condition requires him to take a medication called Prednisone which causes severe swelling in the face and the rest of the body. He is not obese or fat... his appearance is strictly and completely down to the medication on which he is dependent. His goal is to send a message to the world that people should be less hasty to judge because we all have trials and challenges to face. His aim is to change lives through compassion. This is his website: http://www.cuppycakesam.com/index.html

I would encourage anyone who has anything mean spirited to say to do some self directed introspection. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. May he without sin cast the first stone. Judge lest you yourself be judged.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
No he didn't eat too many cup cakes. thats what i first assumed.but He came on Tyra apparently he got this rare disease when he was only 3. And like his own immune system is killing him. i'm a muslim but Insha'Allah he gets better. (that means by god's will)
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I just want to state for the record to all the people leaving rude comments that this little boys name is Sam. Sam was on the Tyra Banks show and they had him redo this video on the show. He actually does have a medical problem that he has to take steroids for which makes him become chubby and more hungry. Plus his parents did not make the video his sister did and she posted it online. People should think before they speak and view themselves before they judge. Look at whats wrong with yourself and think "would I want someone to make fun of me for this?" you wouldn't. so don't make fun of others.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Ok people hes not fat he has a medical condition wich makes him swell up hes to me is absolutely adorable he is so sweet and nice and i dont know why people are so ignorant stop making fun of him hes not fat or obese OK! so stopi honestly people that have made some of these rude offensive is why our world is how it is because we judge without knowing
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
This little boy, Sam, has a disease in which his immune system attacks his kidneys. He has to take steroids to remain alive! That is why he looks the way he does! All of you that are hating on the poor little guy, should be dragged out into the street and shot!
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
omg you guys are so mean this kid has a kidney disease he is sopposed to take steroids becouse it keeps him alive he is suffering and you should realy be nice would you want people to make fun of you becouse you have a disease you dont even want so just back off
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
every one needs to leave this kid alone he is really sick and I feel bad for him and I also know how it feels to be picked on in school I get slamed into locker and punched and all that stuff so just leave him THE FU*K alone ok stupid jerks
