Broccoli Romanesco.

In the Mathematical Lives of Plants post, astanhope left a link to this photo of a vegetable he snapped in Paris. It's called Romanesco Broccoli {wiki} and the picture is well worth posting for everyone to see. http://users.ncable.net.au/~urbanfoodgarden/Web/Vegetables/VEGETABLES%20VARIETIES/BROCCOLI_Romanesco.htm to growing information. Link to a page about nature’s math where I found the name for it.

"This just in!!... Famed Producer\playwrite\composer Albert Broccoli was arrested last evening while under the influence of psychodelic drugs. Tips phoned in to local authorities of sightings of funky appearance. News with photos at 11!"

This is sold here in Spain both in big (which actually means HUGE, things can be the size of a bowling ball) and "snack" sizes (which is the size of a tennis ball or even less). It's my favourite kind of caulliflower but it's correct to say that you can be mesmerized just seeing. The patterns are actually beautiful. The taste is also very strong (in a good way, like concentrated broccoli with a touch of nut, and the texture once cooked is much softer and buttery).
