Kazakhstan to Use a Tent to Create Indoor City.

Kazakhstan is planning to put up a giant transparent tent over its capital Astana, essentially creating an indoor city!

Underneath, in an area larger than 10 football stadiums, will be a city with squares and cobbled streets, canals, shopping centres and golf courses.

The idea is to recreate summer, so that when the outside temperature is -30C, the residents of the Kazakh capital can play outdoor tennis, take boat rides or sip coffee on the pavement cafes.

Won't collapse as the structure is being designed about 10m behind me in my office in the UK and it won't rain inside as I spent the last 8 months working on the environmental concept design for it to make sure things like that don't happen.

Car Park is only at ground level and complies with stringent local regulations and there is sufficient heating to deal with even the coldest days.

They were going to do that to a US city years ago but I think they had grave concerns with condensation and artificial rain. They didn't want to create a terrarium.

watch the sucker collapses and you have tens of thousands of people suffocate and die a horrible death. OR.. they neglect to adequately vent vehicle emissions (of course they will stupidly allow motorized vehicles within the tent), and everyone passes out and dies of carbon monoxide poisioning. Issa very nice!
