we just get a hand scanner, beep the codes in the store, see our total amound (including discounts) hang the scanner and pay with a card. Easy as hell and you dont have to unload the goods from the bag again. They keep us honest by using suprise bagchecks. (at the pay terminal).
crossing one's legs isn't irritating in other cultures. what's offensive is when we Americans (mainly men) cross our legs so that one foot rests on the opposite knee, thereby showing the sole of one's foot or shoe. THAT is highly offensive to many other cultures. the bottom of the foot/shoe represents all you've trod upon and it's considered unhygienic and ill-mannered to make it visible to others.
