I only watched the first couple of episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic before getting bored and moving on. Is this what I’ve been missing? Why didn’t you Bronies tell me the show got this awesome?!

YouTube user LuluPopVampire and her waifu (you can Google that term to learn what it means, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it) arranged this re-enactment of a scene from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic for a cosplay competition. It’s completely convincing, despite the absence of hooves.

The second episode of the second season of the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic mimicked the closing scene of Episode IV of Star Wars. It’s hard for Bronies to get respect from some quarters, but this scene alone says much in favor of the show.

A “brony” is an adult male fan of the children’s cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. These are not rare men, but a legion of dedicated fans with websites and news services devoted to the cartoon:

Each day, out-of-work computer programmer Luke Allen self-medicates by watching animated ponies have magical adventures.

The 32-year-old, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, loves his daily fix of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, and he’s not alone. He’s part of a growing group of “bronies” (“bro ponies”) — men who are fans of a TV show largely intended for a much younger audience.

“First we can’t believe this show is so good, then we can’t believe we’ve become fans for life, then we can’t believe we’re walking down the pink aisle at Toys R Us or asking for the girl’s toy in our Happy Meal,” Allen said in an e-mail to Wired.com. “Then we can’t believe our friends haven’t seen it yet, then we can’t believe they’re becoming bronies too.”

Although some television shows demonstrate an obvious departure from scientific realism (e.g. Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica), you may be surprised that the highly-rated cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is not an accurate presentation of physics — at least as it is currently understood. For a class project, YouTube user beatledude64 explained, in great physical and mathematical detail, how My Little Pony bends good science for the sake of storytelling.

It was used for a particular sketch featuring the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation (6:1-8) as My Little Pony toys. Seth Green, one of writers and producers of Robot Chicken, is promoting an online petition to convince Hasbro to make these ponies.
