The One Laptop Per Child Foundation (OLPC) has designed an inexpensive laptop computer that it hopes to distribute to children in developing nations. To promote the project, artist Kenny Irwin took one OLPC computer, microwaved it, and sculpted it into the OLPCSlug. It’s currently on sale at eBay. Video of the microwaving process at the link.

Microwave dinners usually don’t look like the picture on the front of the package. In this quiz, you’ll be given a picture of what the food actually looks like. Can you tell which box the pictured food came out of? In the second part of the quiz, you select which meal is homemade and which is a microwave meal, which just proves that real food doesn’t photograph all that well, either. See what happens to various foods and a variety of other materials when you microwave them for as long as it takes to destroy them. The videos are sped up, with timers to let you know how long it takes. The Christmas lights were pretty, the eggs were a real show, and I don’t know what kind of “foam” they used, but it sure acted weirdly! Link -Thanks, GA!
